It is said that, there are lots of Moz songs, which are about Marr.

I believe they are.
Lucky lisp and He knows I' d love to see him.

Anymore?

Discuss..

I'm one of those folks who doesn't believe Morrissey wrote any songs about Johnny Marr. I don't recall him ever admitting such a thing but, sometimes I hear a song and I can't help but wonder.

I would add "I Like You" off of YATQ.

Who knows?
I wish Moz had a acount here, on Solo and answered all our questions..

Someone told me that Lucky Lisp was about Cliff Richard, but then they might have been pulling my leg.

Yes, Ive heard the Cliff Richard link to Lucky Lisp...its meant to be that Cliff had a song named Lucky Lips, and has a lisp.

And, I thought I'd heard He Knows I'd Love To See Him was about his dad? I dunno, different people interpret songs different ways.

'I Don't Mind If You Forget Me' could be about Johnny, possibly.
I'm not trying to imply anything because I really do think they were just friends.

i always wondered if Billy Budd was about Johnny Marr?

First of all the guitar work is reminiscent of Marrs work on The Queen is Dead (song rather than Album)

and the lyrics:

Say, Billy Budd
So you think you should ?
Oh, everyone's laughing
Say, Billy Budd
So you think that you should ?
Everyone's laughing !
Since I took up with you

Things have been bad
Yeah, but now it's 12 years on
Now it's 12 years on
Yes, and I took up with you

I took my job application
Into town
Did you hear ? They turned me down
Yes, and it's all because of us
Oh, and what was in our eyes
Oh, what was in our eyes, yeah

I said, Billy Budd
I would happily lose
Both of my legs
I would lose both of my legs
Oh, if it meant you could be free
Oh, if it meant you could be free

This came out in 1994 - about 12 years after their first meeting....

Or it might be nothing of the sort! :D

he has admitted in aninterview that "angel angel down we go together "is the "only" song which was written with johnny in mind.ans explained also why
.i couldnt find that interview...if somebody got it please post it ...

Angel, Angel
Don't take your life tonight
I know they take
And that they take in turn
And they give you nothing real
For yourself in return

But when they've used you
And they've broken you
And they've wasted all your money
And cast your shell aside

And when they've bought you
And they've sold you
And they've billed you for the pleasure
And they've made your parents cry
I will be here
OH, BELIEVE ME
I will be here
...believe me

Angel, don't take your life
Some people have got no pride
They do not understand
The Urgency of life
But I love you more than life
I love you more than life
I love you more than life
I love you more than life

I thought that since the very first time I heard it but I wasn't too sure, but if he admitted it then I believe him because I doubt he'd lie about that .... it's plausable.

i think I Won't Share You is about Johnny.

I remember when Billy Budd came out someone had said Morrissey had been know to call Johnny "Billy Budd". I never heard of this before or since.

To me, I Don't Mind if You Forget Me is about Smiths fans.

yes ages! Better stay on topic... Ahem... Yes Actually I do think Marr has to be entered into some of Moz's solo work. It would seem unreal for him not to be about in Moz's consciousness.

You were obviously alluding to the fact that Morrissey mentions cars in his songs but i don't think any of them relate to Marr..:)
