Has any stage invaders ever been arrested?

3) At a concert in Liverpool, 2004, early into the gig after a failed attempt, I was dragged to the foyer and was given a few kicks and punches out of sight of the audience before being thrown into the street. A police car outside drove up and called me over. They didn't care about the assault on me that they saw and did see me booting out at one of the thugs at the end. They just made it clear if I went near the venue, I'd spend the night in the cells. One of Morrissey crew came out to make sure I was all right. He gave me a crew sweater and told me I was not to wear it until the tour was over. I kept my promise.

no offence but i was at that concert and didnt see anyone get thrown out the back (infact everyone there was well behaved) also if you meant getting thrown over the railings at the front, then i doubt youd have been touched as the only peeps there were a first aider and she was about 90years old unless shes has superhuman powers, if you do get beat up this often and its all true havent you asked yourself...why?!

Re: jumping up on stage!

I spoke with the guy that was doing security during the 1999 and 2002 tours... he said that they have certain rules for which songs it's allowed and which ones it isn't. For exmple, when Morrissey would lay down on the stage during Meat Is Murder, no one was allowed up.

He also said that he would try to work with house security to give them a nod or a head shake to say if a certain person should be let up at that time. Of course, there are a lot of egos and often times house security would not care what Moz's security said. They went with their own rules.

I'm assuming he's using the same guys as he has for the past few tours. I don't know how their rules might differ but I found them to be very friendly. Of course, I got up, I gave Morrissey a hug and then I made a dash to the side of the stage so they might have been nicer to me since I didn't disrupt the show, I didn't put a up a fight, I didn't cling and I went peacefully to the exit before they even got to me.

House security will probably trump band security each and every time. After all it is their venue. Litigation would probably ensue should someone become hurt due to someone climbing on the stage. I am willing to bet that insurance does not cover the stage area which is for performance only.

I side with those that believe it is dangerous and ruins it for everyone else as it can create a mob like mentality and that is how people can get seriously hurt.

I'm not a great fan of stage invaders.

I remember seeing Morrissey on the Boxers tour and it was ruined by the constant invasions:he could barely sing for them.

And don't get me started on the shirt catchers either

I was threatened with going to jail. Instead I was tossed out of the venue by the back of my pants by some short, bald, angry security guard. But I'm no dummy, I waited till the last song. :D

Uhmm I don't think I'd ever attempt to invade the stage while Mozzy sings, it's a huge risk and I'm far too afraid of failure... plus Mozzy doesn't seem to appreciate it every time,
so yeah... I'll never try it.

Fighting over shirts is different though.. I find it extremely fun and a very concerty thing to do <3 .. I got thrown out of one along with like 10 other guys who wouldn't let go after like 5 mins, we all got chuncks in the end <3... At another one, this one girl and her BF caught the TIALTNGO shirt, then a bunch of people (including me) jumped in and got a hold of it also.... in the end it was just the couple and me fighting for it, I was ready to kick some ass if necessary.. specially after she was all asking me to let him have it cause it was his birthday ... sorry but no, honey!... sharing is caring when it comes to these things :guitar:

Getting on stage, a beginners guide

If one were to, hypothetically, ponder, rushing the stage what would need to be known? Would I meet my party outside at the car or would they pick me up in jail? What have your efforts been, and have they been failures or successes, when is the best time to go? Etc. Any help would be appreciated; I have decided this must be, at least, seriously considered.

P.S. I hope this is not too stupid a question……

You almost never get kicked out.. just sent back into the audience.

As far as how to do it...

You generally wait until someone else tries, this pulls security to them, and then you go.

If no one else goes, you need to go when security isn't looking and you have to be fast. There are two tiers of security. The house security in the pit and Moz's personal security on stage.

If you get there, be gentle and don't cling.

Re: Getting on stage, a beginners guide

ihave seen that is mostly easier to get up on stage when moz is near you (in front of you)cause the longer y<ou have run towards moz the bigger the chance is getting catched by his personal security or the venue sec..also moz did give a hand out himself to some people and help them up then

.also a uplift from the people near you comes in handy
or also get up on stage when the sec is occupied with others
Edit:
I must add if there are too many people at once storming to him this sometimes leads to the show being abandoned an moz being escorted off : see dallas invasion)
even though a hug might be important to you..but if that leads to a abandoned concert...not good, dont you think?;-(
if you have succeed dont cling to heavily
good luck:thumb:

Yeah but how do you arrange to have him take you back to his hotel room after you've gotten on stage.

Re: Getting on stage, a beginners guide

Attempting a stage invade before the encore will give you a much better chance of making it then when everyone else is going for it.

The day MOZ announces his retirement from music, and touring,
I'm going to make it a point to go to one of his last shows and jump on there, and give him a big wet kiss. I'm going to make sure to take 8 vicodins before the show, that way all the brutal kicks and punches thrown at me by the vulgar security guards seem a small price to pay to have me be with my dear mozzer
:p

I'm going to a show far away from my home. I have very little money and will be using it all just to get there and I imagine it'll be the last show I go to. So I got to thinking about trying to get up there and the crowd with the punching and zombie revelry and the squashing and general dis-ease and I thought "If I can't get to the front, will I even have enough money for a trip to the emergency room just from attempting?" I mean I know it's not all that bad because I was pretty close last tour in Stockton and all I felt was being squished and some guy sticking his hand in my pants, but I'm watching these videos with people crowd surfing and stepping on heads and it makes me nervous. I only have one pair of glasses and when those go I'm f*cked. I can't see my hand in front of my face.

I'd be lying if I said I haven't always dreamed of reaching him on his stage.

Re: Stage Invasions

All the shows I've been to, the stage invaders just go right back to the floor, never saw anyone get tossed out.

I've always wanted to make it onstage but have never tired too.

carnegie, academy, and wellmont all tossed people out on this tour.
its the house securities call usually.. be careful.

I made it up at the Academy of Music show in Philadelphia during "I'm OK By Myself". Arturo pushed me off the stage back into the pit and house security escorted me out of the pit. At that point, I just watched the rest of the song from a few rows back in the aisle, went out and got a signed vinyl, and went back in and watched encore from the back of the house.

Modrevolve hit the nail on the head. Go before the encore. By now, you know the setlist and that he's doing 21 songs. Who cares if you miss seeing First of the Gang for the 30th time?

Do your research before you go. Do a GIS on the venue to see what the pit area looks like during a concert, whether the pit is guarded, how high the stage is and whether there's a barrier.

Overpay for a front row seat or arrive extra early for the queue at a GA show. Don't use the people who spent front row money or all day in line as your personal launching pad.

If you're concerned about getting tossed and missing part of the show, schedule two shows if you can so that you'll catch a full second show if you get booted from the first.

Survey the situation. House security at Carnegie Hall was uptight and brutal, looked like former FBI agents, and thought they were guarding Itzhak Perlman (Go Joe though!) House security at Greenville, SC had an average age of 80 and would've needed a motorized scooter to catch me.

Station yourself so that there are people between you and house security in the pit. Don't let them grab you before you can even get on the stage.

Watch Arturo watching you. Do the mental math on whether you can get there before he does.

Give your camera to someone reliable.

Get on and get off. Don't latch onto him or wrestle with security. Let them do their job.

Don't be overly obtrusive. Some argue that one stage invasion is one too many. I tend to think that one or two can be exciting. By the fifth one, it starts getting a little old. If it's not your time, it's not your time. If it is your time, I'll be cheering you on.

After reading this thread, I soooo want to get up on stage! :D And it shouldn't be that hard in either Borås or Gothenburg I think
