Morrissey Central "New keyboard player." (May 6, 2023)

Camila Grey will play keyboards on the forthcoming Morrissey tour of Israel / Ireland / England.

No surprise.
FWD.

This is not a secret, many know about this (even fans), but they choose not to speak of it. But the ugly truth must be known, Jessie Tobias is single-handedly ruining Morrissey's music legacy. These announced concerts are at risk for not going through since a bassist and drummer still need to found, in addition to lengthy rehearsals. Jesse is in over his head as a musical director given the fact that the man can't even read music!
So you’re saying that Juan and Brendan have also quit? Brendan is still actively posting Morrissey content on his social media, so I’m skeptical there.

I’m sad that Gustavo has moved on. I’ve been fortunate to speak with him several times and he’s always been very gracious and seems like a “salt of the earth” type of guy, just a really nice guy. I hope he finds happiness and success elsewhere.

So, is the 'knowledgeable' anon (Jesse Is Cancer) stating, categorically, that Brendan has also left the band?

If so, what a sad loss that is...guess next Central announcement in due course will be 'Morrissey's new drummer is...'

What a shambles.
That drummer was ever really in the band? Maybe if he left already is because he's coming back to play with shakira, where he was actually happy

HMorrissey's organization is in shambles and it's because of Jessie Tobias, the single worst thing to ever happen to Morrissey. I write this anonymously (for obvious reasons), so many will be understandably dismissive of my post. However, what I am writing is 100% truth and based on personal experience.

There's a reason why Morrissey's entire band has quit (and it was the entire band), with no mention as to why, it is because of Jesse. It's not because they were sacked or asked for more money, it was because of Jesse.

Jesse is a nightmare of a human being to deal with. He is nasty and bitter, with an ego the size of Texas (not to mention how vicious he is when drunk, which is often). Jesse was always impossible to work with, but became unbearable once Boz departed. On recent tours, his abusive behavior led to the entire band quitting (Alain, Gustavo, Brendan in particular) because they simply cannot work under these conditions. Jesse's jealousy of Alain became an issue as well, especially with the amounts of cheers and affections Alain received from fans while on stage.

So if anyone wanted to know why Alain left so abruptly after the last tour, the answer is Jessie Tobias. If you wanted to know why Gustavo and Brendan left, the answer is Jessie. These are talented musicians who adore Morrissey and loved playing with him. Jessie has made their tenures unbearable in his treatment of others, and so they made the difficult decision to depart. They have been absolute professionals and would never mention any of this publicly, but one can only imagine how bad things must be to lose such loyal bandmates.

Jessie's influence (and some would say brainwashing) over Morrissey is powerful, and it is sad that Morrissey himself does not see the cancer that has been in his fold for the past 19 years. The cancer has spread and has now destroyed a once great unit. Jesse enjoys getting Morrissey drunk, where he can spread lies about others and prove himself as loyal and indispensable. He plan has worked and he is now in full control.

So while Morrissey's blog will never acknowledge why long time associates have departed, and will continue to announce new band members with no explanation, fans deserve to know what's really happened. It's a sad state of affairs.

Whoever has written this soon after put their phone in the bin and took a plane to the Virgin Islands. 👏👏

However, I believe it because you can tell the man Tobias is bad news.

Well, he’s taking the diversity issue seriously
It must be Jesse who’s particularly interested in these women?
As others have already pointed out, there isn’t much to cheer about. Last year’s UK tour was one of the best in a long while, this year’s short European tour was good as well.
I don’t expect the band to be bad, but pure, session musicians that will move on after the south American tour. Then, when Morrissey feels like touring again - and that may not happen for a while - Jesse will put together another band for him.
It feels like we are getting one step closer to THE END.
I don't think musicians joining or leaving makes any difference to whether we are getting closer to 'THE END'.

Morrissey can still do solo tours and, because of his method of not songwriting face-to-face, he can still pen songs with whoever he asks to submit musical ideas.

He still won't be able to get a record contract, but that has nothing to do with who he collaborates with.

Ah...So many naïve people here who are so glad Moz/Jesse shaking things up. Do you really think that this will result in an entirely refreshed setlist? Do you really think Moz will be able to keep these new people over the long haul? Both unlikely.

I've long suspected that Alcohol has played a big role in Morrissey's serial screw-ups. His most disastrous interviews, and open letter to Marr, are redolent of drunk-talk. It's long past time to sober up. At his age he needs to stay steady at the helm thinking about his legacy. Stop with the politics and reform the Smiths!
Why do The Smiths need to reform? I don't think Marr and Morrissey have any unfinished business (musically speaking of course)

Gustavo is an horrific songwriter, but a formidable musician and seems to be a good person. Adding women to the band is pretty cool, but is it permanent? I’m at a loss.

What do you want to bet he got women in the band because he thinks they’re easier to bully and intimidate. He’ll find out he’s outmatched- women gotta be fierce to get where these ladies are now.

Of course, Morrissey can have a backing band, songwriting partners who are not in his band, and studio musicians when recording that neither write songs for him nor play live with him. BOT is as close as we have come to this scenario.

But for a very long time, Morrissey has privileged to work with music submitted by (some of) his band members and having his touring band with him in the studio. BOT was an exception, but seeing him return to the old template for the recording of WMTWD made me think that this oddity was due to the covid restrictions. Perhaps this interpretation was wrong. Jesse was clearly in charge of finding the producer and session musicians for BOT, and wasn’t maybe happy to go back to the old ways of recording for WMTWD. Do we have any information about the band cohesion and atmosphere during the recording of that last album?

So to me, it definitely feels like a big chapter in the solo career has now been closed. And at the age of almost 64 and without a record contract, it just feels like the end is approaching.

I didn’t say that Morrissey won’t tour anymore in future years. It’s just that he won’t have new music to promote. Other than that, I have no crystal ball. He may still hit the road every couple of years to play the songs that people live to hear as long as his health allows him to do that.

I went to see Morrissey at the Birmingham LG arena in 18 and thought this is probably the last time I'm coming to see him, the gig was ok but lacked energy and was actually quite boring. For the 22 gigs he announced Alain was back in the fold, so I thought, yes I will have a bit of that at the Apollo (great venue as well) and they didn't disappoint and it was probably the most energetic Morrissey gig I'd seen for a long time. Juan/ Brendan/Alain/Gustavo just seemed to work really well (struggle to be positive about Jesse, I find it hard to warm to someone who looks like he's busting for a shit when playing guitar)

Hopefully the new line up will be ok but I do wonder why he needs to change things after a really successful tour from a fans perspective.
So are you planning to attend one of his gigs this summer (just curious)?

Jesse's jealousy of Alain became an issue as well, especially with the amounts of cheers and affections Alain received from fans while on stage.

Perhaps Morrissey/Jesse's refusal to play Alain's new WMTWD songs live may have also contributed to Mr. Whyte's (several) reasons to leave.

Makes me wonder if the alleged Alain/Jesse friction is true. I don't think I've seen any pics or mentions of Jesse on Alain's social media since rejoining the band. Obviously Gustavo, Juan, etc. have all been featured at some point or another, but Jesse has curiously remained absent.

I find it bizarre that he announces new band members, like we give a shit. Clearly he can't be bothered explaining why the other members left because he can't deal with conflict. I couldn't give a shit who is playing keyboards.

Like you I have never clicked with Jesse's on stage persona. He does look like he's trying to sort something out downstairs and not getting anywhere with it.

The live experience means nothing to me as he won't be coming back to this part of the world ever again. I'd go if he did of course but I'm not interested in hearing the same set list and I'm also not into hearing live versions of songs I haven't heard on my stereo yet.

But my point was that Alain and Gustavo leaving the band is completely unconnected with that.

If they were staying in the band, he could have written new songs and added them to the live set (as he has done recently).

Without them in the band, he can still write new songs and add them to the live set.

The change in musicians will obviously be of interest to fans, but I don't think it alters Morrissey's career trajectory one iota. He wasn't about to get a record deal before and he isn't about to get one now.

Moz shaking things up, can’t wait to hear it.
