Strange/unexpected Moz references?

...Don't know if this Counts here,....but,
I was in a Restaraunt in 1989 in Niagara Falls, ( with a great view of the Falls...)and the restaurant walls featured lots of film/Music/sports stars signed memorabila.

There was a framed 10x8 B/W "Promo" photo of The Smiths, signed by the band.
Underneath, was a little engraved Plaque, which also had their names printed/etched on it , and instruments played....

For the Vocalists name, it read "Morrissey Smith".

Sorry, didn't think to take a picture of it at the time....
(....wonder if it is still there........???)

"Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" was used last night on "This Week" -the BBC TV show hosted by Andrew Neil during a piece introducing a discussion on happiness and how much money people need and whether after a certain level of income more money doesn't make you any happier. For myself, I've yet to find that level  Anyway, the adorable Ruby Wax was involved in the discussion, telling us that we need more than another Royal Wedding to make us happy.

Here's a very strange/unexpected reference!

This month's 'Club International' magazine (softcore British porn mag) makes the following snide remark in their 'Rock Band 3' review:

"...Okay, they're making a deal out of The Smiths being on there, which is a shame considering they were and always will be shit."

And, just for the record (not that anyone will believe me, of course), I only know about this because my friend showed me it!

They still sell porno mags? Who on earth buys them nowadays what with the wonders of new medai? I remember the days when as 13 yo boys you used to hang round disused railway lines and find a bundle of Parades and Razzles and Escorts....

Anyway following the Ashes on the interweb (the Ashes is a 5 Test Match cricket series between Australia and England, currently the first test is being played in Australia. Its big news in both Australia and Britain andd is one of the oldest sporting rivalries between two nations in the world)

England are/ were tipped as havnig their best chance of winning the Ashes in Oz since the last time England won in 1986/7. I say were because:

75th over: England 249-8 (Bell 71, Anderson 5) This is a really interesting gamble from Ricky Ponting. He has brought on Xavier Doherty to replace Mitchell Johnson (whose figures of 15-2-66-0 reflect a mediocre day's work). That's a risk because Bell is such a clean straight hitter and you would expect him to go for Doherty. He contents himself to a single for the time being. Anderson survives the rest of the over, although he was beaten by an excellent quicker ball. "Oh dear, the Aussies have done us again," says Chris Hanson. "They are such brutes doing it to our lovely lads. Mother will not be pleased." Oh, mother, I can feel the soil falling over England's head.

England are now 260 all out. Oh dear

Is this what the third Hitchiker's book is all about?

Last night at an open mic night in a bar in Crystal Palace, the band played a pretty decent cover of 'Barbarism Begins at Home'. They got a huge applause for it too, so I'm guessing that there were a few people there who recognised the song. :)

not sure how i feel about this. except the ending. apologies if this has already been posted.
