I can't help but feel that all those people who are offended have decided to be offended.

Surely, they're intelligent enough to understand that sometimes there is a discrepancy between the precise words used and the intended meaning, particualrly when someone is talking about something they are passionate about?

Or have we become such a sound-bite culture that we seize the words alone and willfully disregard source, context, circumstance and all those other vital indicators of meaning?

Do they really think Morrissey is racist?

A racist person to me is someone who believes that their own race is genetically superior to all other races, and allows this belief to govern their lives to some degree (it effects their choices, the way in which they interact with others and so on).

Does this sound like Morrissey to you?

Come on people, work it out.

One racist comment gets this issue a bigger headline than any amount of sobbing into a kitten's fur. He has bought some publicity for that issue at the expense of his already-questioned racist "reputation". Is it really so complicated?

Real bravery

Just another of the sub-human insects, Morrissey?

Those clips are great. They symbolise the technologies obstructing many of us in modern society on the path of peaceful non-violent communication and understanding.

...- as if animals are by definition blood thirsty monsters who fight and f*** for the sake of survival? If they were, why would we feel the need to really care for them?

Because we're rather like them, really? :horny:

No, the point is that he's one person stating his opinion, and it's not that shocking. He already said China should be nuked. I am not interested in whether he really believes that or not, but the reality of what he is addressing is what is really shocking. I chose that picture because I'd read how they conduct executions in China. I googled "China animal market" and got this.

Look at images like that and think about how it's acceptable, and you might excuse Morrissey's statement. You could say that it's a cultural thing and that it's because these animals look like our pets that it's shocking how they are sold for meat and fur. That's valid and a look at a slaughterhouse in the United States might make you want to do something violent. But if you google "China fur trade" you might get very angry and you might excuse someone that sees these conditions as being an indicator of a nation's mentality. I've included a less gruesome image, but it's still upsetting so be warned.

Some people don't like anything or anybody who shows and speaks the truth.
You know this anyway, so thank you for showing and speaking out

I have said before about the Chinese being inhumane in their dealings with any other living entity, and the truth will out thanks to people like you

It's just that sometimes, even visual proof is not enough for some, and folk like to go off on a tangent just to try to make a point to prop up an argument which is so flimsy and insubstantial in the first place, it can only mean that it is just all about them on a soapbox
