J. Marr voted top guitarist of all time

"Legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr (now playing with US group Modest Mouse) is the reason gruff Northern lads in casual wear feel comfortable singing along to Morrissey's lyrics about accepting lifts from strange men."

 :D :guitar:

Who conducted the poll?

Johnny was beaten by John Frusciante BBC 6 Music's Axe Factor. :(

Frusciante is amazing. His improvs during live RHCP shows were epic. But he's become a bit full of himself now.

You can't possibly say who is the "best" or "greatest" guitar player...David Gilmour is up there for me, but there again so is Page, Hendrix, Young, Marr...all for different reasons.

He seems to be getting alot more attention now for his guitar playing and song writting. when these lists come out its always the same old faces Paige, hendrix, slash etc. at least people are starting to relise you dont need to play at 100mph to be a great guitar player.

Elaine Paige is a particularly fine guitarist, but she rarely features in any of these ridiculous polls. :)

I can't take any 'best guitarist' poll seriously that doesn't have Graham Coxon on it.

Nor one that lauds Eric Clapton for the riff on Layla... that someone else wrote.

It doesn't seem to have been a poll. The person who "voted" was the hack who threw this together in 15 minutes.

Precisely.
