The Official Morrissey Webstore wishes to apologize to Morrissey store mailing list members who may have seen the mass e-mail advertisement that was sent out after Thanksgiving which mentioned eating turkey. Morrissey is a strict vegetarian and abhors the killing of defenseless animals for food. This ad was not endorsed in any way by Morrissey.

Somebody got slapped for that! :lbf:

Thanksgiving is over so put down those turkey legs! QUOTE]

:lbf: It really is quite shocking that this happened in the first place, but it's just so ridiculously inappropriate that you kind of have to laugh. It could have been worse though I suppose. At least it didn't say, "Continue sinking your teeth into that juicy flesh" or whatever.

They should have said "Put down those tofurkey legs!" That would have been funny.

They didn't bother to remove the turkey legs reference from the web site, it's still there. Pretty sloppy.

Bad that they don't understand the artist, but more relevantly, worse for them that they don't understand their target customers who are also often vegetarians and vegans. That makes one wonder if they're a good choice to keep receiving this work. Even if you're not a vegetarian, you'd have to see that not understanding the customer is bad for sales.

Bad (lack of) judgement on their part, really. But it was at least courteous of them to apologize. I wouldn't expect that nowadays.
