Crikey, Kewpie, you have such a wide range of movie tastes. Is Cinema Paradiso Italian? If it is then it's the only Italian film that I know. I'm so uncultured.

I'm not up on Italian cinema. I begin and end with Fellini-- "8 1/2" reduces me to a puddle of joyful tears every time I watch it.

And of course the Spaghetti Westerns.

Just happened to be I got hooked films early age (I accidentally discovered Pasolini when I was 9), still very much into them.

You can start watching them on DVD and BBC 4 and Filmfour both sometimes broadcast good foreign language films.

Not my favourite, but Roberto Benigni's Life is Beautiful is the most successful Italian film in UK box office so far.

hallo and thank you, kewpie. i don't understand italian films, though, 'cause i'm not italian, 'n' stuff. i don't 'get' the cultural references. good thread, though.
