greatest moz/smiths lyric of all time

vivaissy

muggle, first order
quite hard to pick out a lyric that means so much that is not just connected with a song that means so much.

and your favourite non smiths/moz lyric...

Loud, loutish lover treat her kindly, though she needs you more than she loves you.

Definitely means a lot to me.

If you ever need self-validation/Just meet me in the alley by the railway station

And when I'm lying in my bed
I think about life
And I think about death
And neither one particularly appeals to me

I go for this lyric from Nowhere Fast its Morrissey at his witty best i say.

pleople said that you were easily lead, and they were half right

or

i know it's over, and it never really began, but in my heart it was so real

Definitely agree with you there Denia...that or:

"I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does"

Oh yeah, and this too:

"It may all end tomorrow or it could go on forever"

Under the iron-bridge we kissed, and although I ended up with sore lips.....

Does the body rule the mind or does the mind rule the body? I dunnno....

Been wracking my brains for one more potent than the populist choice, yet I'll have to settle for it. Can empathise with the sentiment to an extent most Saturday nights (for my sins)...

"...There's a club if you'd like to go...You could meet somebody who really loves you...So you go, and you stand on your own, and you leave on your own, and you go home, and you cry, and you want to die".

Nope, you're all wrong.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest lyric of all time, by ANY musician is:
"So we go inside and gravely read the stones, all those people all those lives, where are they now? With loves, with hates, with passions just like mine, they were born and then they lived and then they died. Seems so unfair, ooh, I want to cry".

Ok, it's not 100% original Moz lyrics, but nonetheless amazing words.

And so, I broke into the Palace
with a sponge and a rusty spanner
she said: "I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said: "that's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

Still makes me piss my pants even now.

LOL!
Hey nice one. I forgot about that :D

Genius!

There's an interesting 'story' abot TQID.
Moz claimed that it's not THE Queen he's singing about.
He's says the Queen was him!!

I have my doubts.....

Also

'I crashed down on the crossbar
and the pain was enough to make
a shy, bald buddhist reflect
and plan a mass-murder'

Ha ha ha - oooh there are too many to choose from.

My love is as sharp as a needle in your eye...you must be such a fool to pass me by
And ...i cant remember in which song is line "it may all end tomorrow or it could go on forever"

That song would be Picadilly Palare.

'mother i can feel the soil falling over my head
see the sea wants to take me the knife wants to slit me
do you think you could help me'

my life in those very simple but beautiful words.
:(

also 'there are brighter sides to life and i should because i've seen them
but not very often' has always been one of many favourites!

It Has Too Be
"Leather Elbows On A Tweed Coat Is That The Best You Can Do"

OR

" Like A Boar Between Arches" Defo about Mcdonalds :p

OR

"I Smoke Coz I'm Hoping For An Early Death"

All of the others listed so far have been great, but here's one of my favorites:

Oh, you look so tired
Mouth, slack and wide.
Ill-housed and ill-advised,
Your face is as mean as your life been.
Crash into my arms,
I want you.
You don't agree?
But you don't refuse.
I know you.

Morrissey is the only singer I know of who can sing the very simple line "I know you" and still demonstrate to me, the listener, the familiarity the singer has with whomever he's singing to. It's brilliant.
