Is JJ an out and out bigot? Well he's been banned for a year for posting a baby dressed as Hitler so I guess Kewpie a bigot for this remark.
I hate it when people say Americans/Mexicans/Liverpudlians,/blacks, gays etc...... are this, that and the other. Don't you?

From what I understand, the situation regarding JJ's banishment was a bit more complex than that. I imagine that Baby Hitler would have probably gotten anyone put on notice, but not banned. It seems to have been just one salvo too many in a long-standing, ugly dispute.

As for Kewpie, I understand why so many people dislike her - she has the bedside manner of a barracuda. Still, her "Jews control Hollywood" remark really does seem like an unfortunate slip-up. She did explain where she got the quote from, and I can see where someone not familiar with the proper protocol would mess that up big-time. Someone with limited language skills really should steer away from such incendiary stuff.

Yes, it is irritating when people generalize about a group of people, but sometimes they say it in jest and, again, transitive properties apply. I am perfectly in my rights to say that "Americans are fat, ignorant and stupid," because I say it with love rolleyes. Were some not-quite-American to say that, I would wave a Ralph Waldo Emerson volume in their face and tell them to bite me. Were some not-quite-American to repeat my comment in some other context (without the correct smilie), they're going to have to explain themselves.

So, I think Kewpie stepped in it big-time with that remark, but she so often inserts her foot into her mouth, I just assumed that the remark was staggeringly stupid, but not meant to harm.

JJ's Baby Hitler thing didn't bother me at all, really, but he has a much more sophisticated sense of humor, and can pull off that kind of thing.

Is that the official line? He was banned for posting a picture of a baby dressed as Hitler?! They showed pictures of some baby dressed as Hitler and Osama Bin Laden on Have I Got News For You last week - that's prime time BBC1.

My understanding is that it wasn't for the picture per se which is a caricature, a media artefact that the hammer came down, but for personalising it as a perceived insult towards a particular person. In which case we could argue that you started it, Mr Cool, with the drag queen on the potty which ain't all that cool now, is it? You'd wanna watch your own step. Making fun of people who're not around to defend themselves by posting their images in a demeaning way is a little childish and lowers the tone. Surely we can do better?

It is reasonable that there are rules and admirable when they are maintained in a reasonable and proportionate manner. I guess that's the crux of this case. While we await any potential review, now's our time to vent any grievances we hold about Jukebox Jury, or he'll be just unsufferable if and when they let him back - if he doesn't, in a huff, pooh-pooh any such cheery outcome!!

Personally I have nothing against JJ and find a lot of his stuff interesting and informative

What I don't like is that there is now a big witch hunt against Kewpie. I've had my disagreements with her, but she always came good.

This is what I don't understand - why is it that anything goes on the main board, but this forum is so tightly regulated? No pun intended, but...what difference does it make? Davidt always says it's about the freedom of speech or non-censorship...however, this board is ridiculously censored! I'd think the main page would be more important to censor than the forum! I mean, why not just treat them the same? Censor both, or let them both go to hell...

I like JJ. I like that he had questions AND answers, and I think this whole ban issue is quite silly.

In all of my years on here, JJ was never a troublemaker, ever. I loved his posts.

Its almost an honor to get banned on this site. You really REALLY need to go out of your way to get banned on here. Which, in my reading of this topic, JJ didn't go out of his way. It seems that he just ticked Kewpie off really bad.

I've never had an issue with Kewpie, ever. I have no ill will toward her, in fact, compared to the f*cking nazi's over at the Depeche Mode message board, she's angel, but it seems she banned him out of more of a personal reason than a FAQ violation (that's what I am getting out of the posts in this thread at least.)

A picture of a baby with a Hitler stash..FUNNY, not a reason to get banned, unless he was personally attacking her, which I can't find anypost where he was..unless all evidence has been deleted and shoved under a carpet. I can't even imagine JJ personally attacking anyone on here, but then again I see Davidt's explaintion of giving JJ extra leeway so who knows...

Simple solution...JJ creates another email account and creates another solo name...
