Something has to be done @ the SXSW ticket distribution

Heading to Austin

Guest
If all the previous post about the type of people who attend the SXSW event is true (mainly record/music industry people), Morrissey or his people have to do something about letting "real" fans into the show. Eventhough I do not have a ticket, I will be heading to Austin. I truely hope "real" fans will have a chance to buy tickets without having to buy a Platinum ticket for 800.00.

you don't have to buy a platinum pass to see him!

that is, unless you want to see the film and interactive conferences as well.

i feel like i should write a guidebook on this whole process....

but seriously, i would be very surprised if they put morrissey on anything smaller than the austin music hall stage (which holds 3000 people and i've never seen a line to get in no matter who is playing, and they've put people like Stephen Malkmus in there), that is, if they don't put him on the free stage at auditorium shores.

i don't think they'll put him at Stubb's because they serve barbeque inside. you can smell it and even see the smokehouse in the area, and i'm sure the organizers don't want to piss him off by doing that.

La Zona Rosa holds 1200, but it's not exactly the type of venue moz would play. the stage is low and you have to walk near the side of the stage to get to the bathrooms and since they can't obviously close that off, it leaves that area wide open for people to rush the stage.

i seriously think that the chances are good that he'll play the free stage at Auditorium shores which requires neither a wristband or a badge to gain access. it's open to the public and holds several thousand people, and since morrissey wants to promote his new album, i can't imagine that he would waste that opportunity playing in a small place for a bunch of posers and music journalists.

According to the news item, he is going to play the Austin Music Hall.

oh, p*ss off...crybabies

wristbands for the general public are not yet on sale. it's a festival, you idiot, so there's not going to be any priority for so-called "real fans." you buy a wristband and take your chances like the thousands of other people attending the event.

when they do go on sale, they're about $100...

you "real fans" make me sick.

austin music hall

hello suzanne, message board attendee of old. it IS the austin music hall. it was announced yesterday...

I called the main number on SXSW website & lady said he's scheduled to play at Austin Music Hall. She advised if you buy the 500.00 badge, you will be let in first. You're right Susanne...they let the badges in first, then wristbands & will sell single tickets if any are left. Looks like I'll be heading to Austin with a 500.00 ticket!!! The lady did say badges will go up in price on Feb 10. Going Susanne? It's in your backyard, you have to go!

you know...i just saw that. i was so freaking excited i didn't comprehend the rest of it.

yes....ok, now we know.

hell yeah! you should know better than to ask. i'll be camped out as early as i can get there in the wristband line. i seriously doubt that every last badge wearer on the planet will be there that night.

you're nuts if you're paying that much and only seeing the show. if you want to see the interview, yeah, you have to have a badge to get in. that will be at the Austin Convention Center which will be driving me nuts knowing that it's going on just a few blocks away...but what can you do, really?

just to warn you that showcases generally run 40 minutes in length. they might make his a little longer, but i dunno.

I've heard that in past years tickets for larger shows at AMH were sold separately from badges...

...and that only a certain number of people with badges were let it. It seems this would be the more logical option for a Morrissey show.

Suzanne, can you please let us know when the wristbands will go on sale?

Preferably with some time ahead so I can plan how I'm going to drive to Austin to pick some up at Waterloo please? ;-)

How early do you think you, or I should camp out for them?

> Suzanne, can you please let us know when the wristbands will go on sale?

sure! i'm not greedy. i like being the info booth.

er...well, i dunno. i've never actually stood in line for wristbands. the first several hundred are usually a few dollars cheaper which is why people feel the need to stand in line, but they could be sold over the course of a few days before they are all gone.
