Morrissey asked to go on Question Time – should he do it?

At this stage with the court dates approaching, I'd imagine Morrissey would be advised to refrain from any appearance that could influence the outcome. Maybe after.

Obviously QT believe what the NME quoted Morrissey as saying about floods of immigrants threatening national identity, which is actually the usual rhetoric heard periodically from politicians right across the board since immigration first commenced a long long time ago and remains the kind of comment that presumably sends shivers running through the likes of Morrissey's parents during their first year in Manchester in the '50s. He would hardly want to be apeing that kind of sentiment, but if he does resent untrammelled immigration and considers it a good idea to manage the numbers better, he still cannot be brought to task for racism without pretty much all Western governments and most of the rest of the public, being guilty of the same charge. Morrissey has engaged with anti-racist projects and sided with artists of this persuasion e.g. Young, Gifted and Black on the Songs to be Cremated With, and more recently, James Baldwin in pre-show videos. Also his statement abhorring racism remains on his fansite - http://true-to-you.net/morrissey_news_071203_02
