Ex-The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr (43) is going on tour with the American band Modest Mouse. Marr who wrote some of the songs on the album also actually played on their material as well. In support of the new Modest Mouse album "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank", Johnny Marr is now going on tour with them. All of the dates have now been posted on the Johnny Marr website at www.jmarr.com . It is not the first time Marr is working with other bands. After The Smiths split, Marr played guitar and harmonica for The The and also worked with New Order's Bernard Sumner to form Electronic. He also became a sought-after session player and producer, writing, touring and recording with, among others, Bryan Ferry, The Pretenders, Kirsty MacColl, Karl Bartos of Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, Black Grape, Billy Bragg, Pet Shop Boys, Beck and Oasis.Marr also released a first album "Boomslang" in 2003 under the Johnny Marr and The Healers flag. A second album is in the making.

If only!

I saw Modest Mouse about 2 years ago. It was the stupidest show I have ever been to.

The line to get in moved at a snail's pace and took over an hour to get in the door because I guess they thought Al Qaeda wanted to take out some indie kids.

They also had some bizarre casino/Las Vegas theme set up which was hosted by Camel cigarettes. they had dancing chicks and some other shit that did nothing more than push back the time the band was going on until midnight....on a weeknight. usually big shows like that get out at 11pm.

i saw maybe half the show, but i gave up and went home.

i wasn't the only person either as there was a stream of people leaving. yes, some of us have work/school the next day and aren't happy that precious time was eaten up by people hocking cigarettes.

hopefully modest mouse has ditched that crap.
