It's one of morrissey's strangest "poppy" songs. Kind of like Oasis played in the style of Kill Uncle with that weird voice effect he used a lot around the sing your life/pregnant for the last time era.

It's interesting music. Lots of styles on the new album.

some of this stuff should be great live. "The Father" has a pretty modern indie sound mixed with a 70s glam sound. It's eminently moshable!

I was worried about hearing "The Father" because so many fans/critics had dismissed it as a tuneless dirge. But it's great and has a very poppy chorus.

"I Just Want To See The Boy Happy" could be said to sound a little like, er, The Healers...
 
I Want To See The Boy is very Roxy Editions Of You in spirit, glammy and great, maybe my favorite so far.
 
Exactly! I reviewed the album a few days ago for a Spanish magazine and that's what I wrote!
