I know this may be a dumb question to most of you. But could you please explain what "MOZ" means or stands for. Thank you

Just a short name for morrissey.Im not really sure how or where it originated, but thats what it means...MOZ=short for morrissey

a few further thoughts

British people have a tendency to think up nicknames like that. For example, Paul Gascoigne = Gazza. I have occasionally heard Morrissey referred to as "Mozzer," which, with a British accent, is the same as "Mozza." It doesn't make a great deal of sense, but then again, it is hard to see getting "Hank" directly from "Henry" or "Libby" directly from "Elizabeth," as well.

I don't think Morrissey actually refers to himself as "Moz" on a regular basis, but on one of his singles (I don't remember which), his "friend" Jake has it written on his stomach as a fake tattoo, so apparently, he doesn't disapprove.

Re: a few more thoughts........

His nickname Moz was invented by johnny Marr. "The Music press also created Mozzer," Moz declares." or His Mozzness. All of which I quite like, but I think they came from 'misery,' 'mawkishly,' or 'morbidity'--one of those very fitting words."

From the mouth of Morrissey.
