Troy Tate Album vs. John Porter Album

Troy Tate captures the band at their purest, greenest, most eager moment of deflowering. The songs are rough, ready, and bursting at the seams to be heard. And, depending which leak you're listening to, you get the piano outtro on Suffer Little Children, the raucous drum fill opening of These Things Take Time, the rockabilly take of The Hand That Rocks The Cradle...the list goes on.

John Porter's version is sonically muted and pockmarked by superfluous cheesy organ flourishes courtesy of Paul Carrack; however it also claims a finesse and refinement that without a doubt adds a sense of maturity and subtlety to many of the songs. Additionally it boasts the inclusion of Still Ill, easily one of the most remarkable songs that they ever did.
