Surely people didn't think 'Christian Dior' was written in character, it was autobiographical and a sign of behaviour to come; a man nearing 50 starting to panic about having abstained from certain aspects of life. Wishing he had "run wild and legless", "kissing street boys", doing whatever he pleased in other words. Walking around with his shirt unbuttoned with multiple gold chains around his neck like a sleazy brothel owner as he does now.
Flirting with danger was always intriguing to him, that was evident from the earliest days, if only in observing it in other people back then. The Warhol factory etc, subverting the usual rules of society. That he'd get mixed up in illegality is unsurprising when you consider that he's a man completely without moral scruples. An out-and-out hedonist, promoting childlessness and selfishness since day one. Some grow out of that phase and gain perspective and depth but he didn't. The "let's go out stealing" note slipped by him through Noel Gallagher's door; nothing healthy and normal gives him any satisfaction.
He liked working class people -- but only in soap operas. His only interest in Shelagh Delaney type characters was on the page or on the screen. In person he grows bored easily and uses people then discards them when he can get nothing more from them -- Viv Nicholson, Sandie Shaw. People used as set-pieces in the Morrissey show.
Living a "normal" existence is beneath him, as it is to many narcissists/sociopaths. If it's not on the screen or the page he sneers at it.
Now, if this news story proves to be about him, he's bringing that way of thinking and living to its logical conclusion. He's ending up where people like that often end up; a life of dissolute desperation. In his case living the ex-pat flaneur lifestyle, grabbing men in toilets aged 49, having no responsibilities to anyone or anything. A man just about clinging to his sanity, trying to fix the aching emptiness in his soul by pursuing his basest desires. Trying to make up for a youth mis-spent. Like Liberace did in his later years. Like George Michael when he finally came roaring out of the closet in his mid-30s. Maybe Morrissey's not quite on that level: but imagine travelling from country to country month after month, having no fixed abode. How long before you start craving excitement to distract yourself from the repetition and meaninglessness of your existence?
How long before the barriers start to come down, previous limitations you had set for yourself beginning to seem irrelevant. See Kevin Spacey for a similar mode of thinking. Men who reject nature and they end up paying for it. This will ruin Morrissey once and for all and he did it to himself -- just like all his professional failures have been of his own making although he tries to pass the blame on to others. There's nowhere to hide this time. If it's him, I hope he gets absolutely crucified. He's his own Judas, giving himself/his legacy and by extension anyone who ever supported him the kiss of betrayal.
All the best, gang.

You're wrong on more than a few counts here. George Michael never came 'roaring out of the closet', he was pulled out of the closet red-faced and reluctant when his cottaging habit became public. Kevin Spacey has always been a slightly creepy type of homo (which comes across in his acting to good effect) so his behaviour is completely in character. As for Moz, you're way off. He would never indulge in such conduct. In fact your words probably say more about yourself, as from your scathing writing you appear to slot into a common phenomenon: the ageing middle-class disillusioned Smiths fan.Surely people didn't think 'Christian Dior' was written in character, it was autobiographical and a sign of behaviour to come; a man nearing 50 starting to panic about having abstained from certain aspects of life. You haven't learned anything have you? No, wait, you have learned one thing - he IS a racist Nazi apologist - you're right there - but whether he's a sex offender - I never said he was - do you want to retract that? You, I nor anyone else knows the identity of the people involved, as I've repeatedly said. You have literally zero knowledge if he is or isn't the person involved - very few people do.
And furthermore - regardless of who it was - you seemed to be suggesting sexual assaults were justifiable if they were 'drunken fumbles'. Is that your view, really?
Do you want to read my post properly before you burst a blood vessel in your haste to vent?
I said you seemed willing to believe he was a sex offender. And again, I wasn't claiming to have any 'knowledge', I was saying it could have been anything and we don't know the details. Your entire post twists mine into something it never was, just for the sake of a row.
Interesting insight. What about groping someone as they come out of a cubicle? Is that a standard manoeuvre?I remember stories, which are probably true, of how police used to know where all the 'cottages' were. They used to lure gays In, lock the doors, and then round them up like cattle. For me, it was an extension of the clubs I went to. There was all sorts went on. I was very polite though. I used to get on with my piss and then if anyone felt I was worth investigating I'd let them come to me. Look straight ahead, and then get out.
It was a lifetime ago, Pep. As I say, there's no need for it any more. What with the Internet and every thing. Although a guy tried it on with me tonight in the pub toilets. I said 'oh that looks nice' and walked out. He was the landlord of the pub, and straight. I wouldn't say anything to anyone, I'm just thankful he gives me a drink. I'm glad he knows he can trust me and I won't make a song and dance about it.Interesting insight. What about groping someone as they come out of a cubicle? Is that a standard manoeuvre?
Blimey. So the landlord is 'straight' but thought he'd try it on? Yes, I suppose it does suggest trust, with mutual benefits. What will you do if he tries again? It was a lifetime ago, Pep. I like being so urbane about these things, Pep. I like him knowing he didn't nothing wrong at all, and he can trust me. I'm not going to be spouting off. It's a thing between men! And hopefully hell trust me for further drinks.Blimey. So the landlord is 'straight' but thought he'd try it on? Yes, I suppose it does suggest trust, with mutual benefits. Confidence and supply. He has confidence you won't blab, in return for supplying the drink.I like being so urbane about these things, Pep. Moz has always been way too working class for his army of devoted middle class disciples.
