He is a top man Bluenose.When I was at college in Cambridge ny flat-mate Emma Horton worked for the University newspaper "'Varsity".
It turned out that old Richard also worked for the paper when he was an under graduate there in the 60's or whenever.

They were having a fundraiser and invited some people to com toa dinner to drum up some funds.

I cadged an invite from Em and got to meet Richard. He gave me his autograph and I was chuffed to bits......it all seems a long time ago.

Yeah, seems nice enough.

I went to the same school as Mr. Whiteley. A good forty-fifty years between us, but you know.

Anyway, went to shake his hand one time I saw him at a radio show he was a guest of, and started with the "I went to the same school as you" line.

His reply...

"Really? ... have you read my book?"

I hadn't.
