MTV and my (maybe rhetorical)question(s)...

Re: MTV etc.

The only good programme on darn VIVA is called Jam, it's a quite well-done documentary which focuses on the past, present and future of bands and artists. I was considering calling the station and asking them to do one on the Smiths because they had some about very obscure, unknown and not even influencial people...but I'm pretty sure the counter question would be: "Smith who??"

Triple J don't actually run it, it's simalcast on Triple J but Triple J have only been connected with it since 1990, I guess it would be far superior to what your getting though, They will play absolutely anything that has a video at some time or another, They have a vast archive, they even have a Plastique Bertrand video that isn't Cae Plane Pour Moi, Rage has been going since 1986 & they have an Archive right back into the early 70s when the ABC had Count Down.

ABC is the Australia equivalant to the BBC

Rage is really the only music related programme they have, the rest is news, live parliment broadcasts & English Sitcoms.
