Is Coronavirus as serious as they say?

Omikron has officially reached the place where I live, according to our local rag. One third of infections are omikrons. Second day of record-breaking infection numbers.

As I currently have a few days off, I'd like to get omikron infected, and then deal with the symptoms privately, without any state intervention, if possible. I am not going to play for a 6-months infection certificate for which you need a positive PCR-test. I'd rather go "unnoticed" and proud, I am not going to beg for anything, even if this means that even more disadvantages and harrassments have to be dealt with.

Since yesterday, when a blood sample was taken by a hideously sick assistant at my GPs office, I've had a headache and two fits of narcolepsy. I almost fell asleep at the hairdresser today.

My daughter had the omicron variant and her only symptoms were a sore throat to start with and a later a runny nose. Still had to cancel a family xmas though as her grandma is classed as vulnerable and she obviously didn't want to pass it on to her. It's meant to spread much easier than the delta variant but so far no one else in the house has picked it up.

Do you remember how they found out what sort of variant she had? Is there an extra test for that?

According to some Chinese research, omicron might have developed unnoticed in mice.

It's not known whether these mice were wild mice or held in a lab.

Some people think it's a strange coincidence that this variant was called o-micro-n...

Reminds me that not long ago, I went to my boss's office, door was open, and I saw him sitting at his desk, staring at the screen of his computer, his thumb inside his nose.
When he saw me, he didn"t remove his finger. Probably even behind my mask, I must have had an expression of surprise and even disgust on my face, so he explained that his nose was bleeding.
Back then, I still thought this was pretty strange, but I was already looking for possible side-effects in folks.

our health minister said that mandatory vaccinations are coming to canada. that's just f***ing great.

how is rendering someone helpless (by not allowing them to exist in public or earn an income) and then forcing something into their body not the same as rape?
