Picked up a six of Belhaven Scottish Ale for tonight and a bottle of cheap Savingnon Blanc to last me through the week.

Are there Bottle Kings in your parts?

I'm only drinking mini-cans of Coca-Cola tonight!

I do have one semi-large bottle of some beer called Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse "the classic naturally cloudy Munich wheat malt." It has a friendly looking monk on the label, patting his belly. Okay, I'll pop it open, but I'd actually have to go to the BP station if I want a buzz.

We don't have Bottle Kings that I know of. What is it?

OMG this beer actually is GREAT. Too bad I have to chug it to make it worthwhile.

Dude Fransizkaner is one of my favorites. Make sure to try it with a slice of lemon.

Bottle King is the mecca of wharehouse discount liquor stores. Lots of decent bottles of import and domestic wines for under $5, plus good deals on the more expensive brands. Great prices on hard alcohol and a wide selection of beers as well.

Nothing, though, will ever beat the liquor store near my house when I lived in central Jersey. Make your own six pack for $7.49! SO many beers to choose from.

It's excellent! I don't have any lemon. I'll remember that next time.

Sounds cool. We don't seem to have ANY fun liquor stores near me. A few years ago anyone who sold anything harder than beer and wine had to be a state run liquor store.

But I am glad one liquor store near me is now allowed to sell on Sundays.

All wine in Ohio is overpriced because of some stupid tax they put on it, and I believe are stupid Governor is proposing to tax it even more soon. Sigh
Thankfully, these days cheap wine is a hell of a lot better tasting than it used to be!!

What's your ideal six pack?

Two Buck Chuck ain't two bucks in Ohio!

I don't actually like Two Buck Chuck. But Trader Joes is definitely the place to go. I like a lot of their wines.

my ideal six pack...hmmmm.

it would probably consist of a lot of the weird german/belgian beers this particular liquor store carried. sterken's white ale would definitely be in there. some hacker pschorr, fransizkaner...if it was the fall some oktober fest and pumkin ale, and also depending on the season, either a corona or sam adams.

how about you?

Yeah, isn't it four dollars there? You said that you got two bottles of wine from TJ's for ten bucks, last week. Did you drink them already?

If I was drinking bottled beer, I would go with a six pack of Becks. On tap, Newcastle Brown Ale.

Becks is definitely better in the bottle.

I love its long neck and green glass with the red, white, and black label. I don't like to drink beer from a can. It looks cheap and tastes even cheaper. Though, I have drank many, many beers from cans. Once you are trashed, it pretty much doesn't matter. But I don't think I have drank a beer in over five years. I Just haven't had the desire to drink alcohol lately.

Yeah, those went fast. I can't keep a bottle around too long without popping it open. Wine is the best. Gives the happiest buzz.

I usually opt for the 7-9 dollar range at Trader Joes. It's good to have SOME standards.

Hmm...I'm not nearly as knowledgable about beer as you are. I never seem to remember the names of some of the fancy ones.

Um, Black Label/Pabst/Old Milwauki/...no.....um.....

I'm fond of St. Pauli Girl, both dark and the lager, but I'll pick the lager for this. Sapporo would have to be there too. Heineken. Hobgoblin strong dark ale. Great Lakes Eliot Ness lager (hey, gotta support the hometown! drink it as you watch The Untouchables!). And I'll copy Bertie and go with Beck's, that's a real good one.

I love to get one of those big silver cans of Sapporo and a bottle of wine. Seems to be the perfect amount for a nice pleasant buzz without overdoing it.

I gotta start writing down beers you mention. The wheat malt stuff is so good!!! I'm sure it'll be in my regular rotation now.

If you liked Fransizkaner, definitely try Hacker Pschorr hefe-weissen (light not dark) with a lemon. Wheat beers are definitely great for the summer so right now is the perfect time to get into them.

Speaking of which, Sam Adams Summer Ale is one of my favorite seasonal brews
