It's been reported in large sections of the UK press that Morrissey stayed in the £400 a night Dorchester hotel in London the night after Glastonbury and brought his own bedding. The Sun newspaper even had a picture of morrissey taking his bedding out of a black Mercedes.

MORRISSEY'S HIGH MAINTENANCE
Morose musician Morrissey may stay at London's top hotels when he returns to the English city -- but he brings his own bedding.
The former Smiths frontman arrived in the capital's swish Dorchester Hotel Wednesday and is so fussy, he brings his own sheets and pillows.

A hotel source says, "The hotel costs $720 a night, but Morrissey obviously likes his own comforts."

I just came across this one today. IBEH appears on the August edition of the Pop Hits Monthly - Rock (PHM0408R) karaoke disc. Another song of note on this disc is "Float On" from the new Modest Mouse album.

Oh yeah, and don't forget your favorite new Nickelback jam.

Gallagher: I'm a pop star - Ireland Online

01/07/2004 - 12:49:21

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher wants his band to be called a "pop group" - because he is sick of the "indie" label.

Despite initially signing to an independent record company, Creation, in 1993, Gallagher insists the band have severed their indie roots - and share more in common with pop.

The singer says, "I love pop music. That's what we do. We're not an indie band. What's an indie band? To me that's the Inspiral Carpets or Echobelly. Forget that.

"What's the point of not putting out a great single every few months? That's what The Smiths used to do and it was an event."

The advert in today's Manchester Evening News has 'Linder' appearing at next weeks Move Festival on the same day as Morrissey.

It says Linder, not Ludus.

Morrissey has entered the official album charts in the U.K. at number 25 this week with the E.M.I. compilation, Best Of... Suedehead.

This is solely due to the fact that HMV the uk largest retail cd outlet is selling the album at 2.99 instead of 13.99 its usual selling price!!

Also back in the charts is the 1989 self titled 'Stone Roses' album up for grabs at just 3.99, entering the charts at number 9!!

There is a short article and a picture of the You are the Quarry cover plus a quote from America is not the world in the latest issue of the Swedish animal rights magazine "Djurens rätt". Nothing new really but here's a translation.

The apostle of loneliness is back

Few rock stars have been subject of such cult like admiration as the ex-Smiths singer Morrissey. Morrissey's music and words represent a rather romanticized outsider image that mainly attracts men, younger as well as older. This admiration is not expressed through nail biting knowledge about the artist or physical imitation. For the most dedicated it's about identification of the soul. For theses fans Morrissey's animal rights commitment is an odd thing you have to be indulgent to (just like the rock critics who always explain it away in one way or another). Within the animal rights movement it's different: the haunting "Meat is murder" from 1985 became somewhat of a national anthem for the rapidly growing resistance. Last time Morrissey was in Sweden he forbid the sale of hotdogs and on stage announced that: "All good people are vegetarians". On the new album "You are the quarry", the first in seven years, nothing has changed. Morrissey sings with a sorrowful voice about loss and loneliness. Sometimes the singing goes into bitterness and sometimes sarcasm. And he still sides with the animals: on the first track he takes on the hamburger culture; in the sleeve we are encouraged to join PETA.

By the last time Morrissey was in Sweden I'm pretty sure they mean Stockholm 2002 because it can't be Hultsfred.

Morrissey's "I Like You", from "You Are the Quarry" made an unlikely appearance on BBC 1's Football Focus program today. The song appeared in a Euro 2004 clips compilation, and it would seem Moz has overpowered the usual, awful, dance/techno or mainstream American yell rock to add a bit of class to proceedings.

The track "I Like You" was just used on a BBC footbal show. They were doing a compilation of the 'best bits' of Euro 2004. Interestingly, the "Envy makes them cry" section was edited out and the end section was elongated.

The BBC are using 'I Like You' as the backing track for a montage of highlights from the Euro 2004 football championships. Expect it to be used on Sunday for the Final. The BBC Editor obviously has a wicked sense of humour as when Mozza sings 'we're not right in the head' we are watching the Swiss goalie concede a wayne Rooney goal as it ricochets off the back of his head! Great promotion for YATQ.

MSMOZZER also writes:

Whilst watching BBC's weekly football "magazine" program this Saturday I was pleasantly surprised to hear the producers use 'I Like You' to complement a review of the recent Euro 2004 tournament.

It was played in full and the clips used were in "sync" with the lyrics. For example, "..shove their fat faces.." played as a supporter munched on a hamburger. The best one was "..'cause we were thinking the same line..." and the camera went to a tasty looking girl in the crowd.
