I had a good laugh at some of bands in NME's top 50 albums- bloody Starsailor!!!!

I havent heard anything decent in ages and have had to content myself listening to Tribute bands and comeback tours. The charts need a good old-fashioned mincer like Morrissey.

Can anyone tell me who is really worth listening to at the moment?

Please don't mention Travis, The Strokes or any other Virgin Radio crap.

I seriously don't know...

Everything I listen to now a-days is old, unfortunately. But I know, somewhere, there's a little indie band who are completely life-changing and not getting any press or such. I must find them!

try...

..the Kings of Convenience album, which, unbelievably, is in NME's drab top 50.... they sound like a modern day Simon and Garfunkel, lovely Sunday morning wistful stuff.... touches of Nick Drake, too...a bit hippy dippy for some, but a great collection of sterling songs.

The Goldfrapp CD Felt Mountain is incredible - it's been re-released recently with an extra CD of live / video stuff.

Zero 7's Simple Things is another lush, chilled out album, full of old fashioned decent songs. Bit like Air, but even nicer.

Others worth checking are the Lemon Jelly CD, Bent's 'Programmed to Love', anything by Mercury Rev, Spiritualized and Silverman (all available to download on the web).

I thought so at 1st, you have to listen a few times then you'll love him!

I havent heard of either of those two but I think they could do with stage names

I guarantee you'll fall in LOVE with Rufus Wainwright...check out his cd "Poses"

If I had a band

I don't mind The Strokes!
The last album I bought was Nick Lowe's Greatest Hits.

Starsailor give Manchester a bad name!
I bet theyre from Altrincham or Chester or somewhere.

If I had a band they would be worth listening to!

Last album I bought was Nick Lowe's new album - terriffic " three, four....you look like butter wouldn't melt in your moouth, home wrecker". Saw him in the White Horse in Brentford some years ago but didn't have courage to talk to him.

Glad all over to knpw there is another Moz/ Lowe fan out there.

& what IS so funny 'bout Peace Love and Understanding?

Re: Who's worth listening to? here's two

1.- Paul Westerberg - solo, and his old band - The Replacements
Westerberg is in the same situation as Morrissey, a legend but the record companies think otherwise.
2.Elliott Smith, mellow and depressing.
