The Smiths as a band name

(Edit: love how radioactive this post is. Personally, I believe it 100%, but that's just me)(chuckling)

I know Morrissey always said he chose The Smiths as a bland, almost meaningless name for the band, to contrast with 80s glitz and glamour. But it's always been a wee bit suspicious to me that the guy who turned the Moors Murders scum in was named Smith, and he was married.

Morrissey said he was obsessed with true crime, and the Moors Murders, for obvious reasons. Just makes me wonder a bit. Any thoughts? And please, it's just a topic of conversation, I am not saying I am right, or jumping down any rabbit holes. Just a thought, is all.
