Narcolepsy: A disorder characterized by sudden and uncontrollable, though often brief, attacks of deep sleep, sometimes accompanied by paralysis and hallucinations.

Though what I have is more at "Hypersomnia" -- a near constant fatigue with sudden spikes of virulent drowsiness in which sleep is difficult to resist.

I have to pop pills every three waking hours to remain sufficiently alert... as well as take an obscene number of sedatives to wind down enough to sleep.

If the truth be known, I, more than likely, no longer suffer this affliction in any real sense. It is only that the symptoms of amphetamine withdrawl are indistinguishable from that of the hypersomnia they were initially given to treat... so the only way to know for sure is to remain off the drugs for a sufficient length of time, longer than I am apparently capable.

I used to have "hypnogogic" hallucinations -- brief, terrifying, experiences on the cusp of sleep/waking. It has been almost eight years since my last one, thank God.

I take different drugs of the benzodiazapine class and/or the antihisamine Atarax (a potent soporific).

Yes 'soporific' means you want to go to sleep, means you are tired.
Valium come under the Benzo'diazapine' type of 'sedative-hypnotic' as I said before.

Where as Barbiturates are the 'other' type of sedative-hynotic. They all work like tranquillizers.

As you know there are two types of painkillers: 'Narcotic' and 'Non-Narcotic'.

'Amphetamines' get you going they speed you up they are 'stimulants'.
sometimes slimming pills and anti-depressants can work like stimulants too.

I am alergic to Barbiturates. After more than a couple consecutive doses I experience a hive like reaction, and greatly itch.

Probably a good thing, or I would be hooked on those too.

Yes they are highly addictive!! It is good you don't take them as well, or instead of the Benzodiazephine type of Seditive-hypnotic.
