Message board censorship, where do you stand?? Post your thoughts.

Censorship. How do you think Morrissey feels about censorship? This is a message board in his honor, do you think he'd agree with censoring it?

Where do you stand on message board censorship? Although some people find it painful to scroll through posts, is free speech no longer a human right? Have we as a society really given up our god-given rights of free-speech and free-thought in favor of a dictatorship who tells us what we can and can not say??

How can we have a society without a difference of opinion? Morrissey, the most famous non-conformist, has a message board in his honor that attempts to conform EVERYONE on it to a rigid standard of rules and regulations?? Am I missing something here?

I think what we've got here is a group of cry-babies who love to whine and moan that have ruined it for everyone else. They've formed their gestapo and will attempt to stamp out all other forms of existence til only theirs remains. How boring will this board be if they accomplish their mission? Very.

The First Amendment free speech protections says that the Government shall make no law abridging the protections of freedom of speech. While a very powerful person and the Webmaster of this site, David T., is not the government, and you have no free speech rights on this private, non-govermemt, maintained website. If you are not a US Citizen, the Constitution of this country does not apply to you at all and so you have no rights vis-a-vis an American run website other than those granted by International Law, and then too only those International Laws which the United States has ratified.

the trick is to learn moderating time patterns, like guard patrols in the great escape etc

tand?? Post your thoughts.

I like the board cleaned up. It would be ace if the majority of the posts here were Morrissey related. Not all but the majority since we have other interests and it's swell to share. I hate the psychotic posters here, you know who they are, especially that one 'boozey shut in', take it to email.

The root of the problem is that most people here have no sense of humor at all.

While I don't particularly want to dignify that load of horseshit with a comment...

...I think it does need saying that you're talking bollocks. In the absence of any kind of control over multiple IDs, some degree of moderation is required. This place has been a nightmare lately, and although I think some of the editing has been OTT over the last week, at least it's a start.

If you honestly think that moby and BG's ID wankery, not to mention Andy EI's (with or without cats) constant babble are not going to kill this place stone dead, then you're clearly far too busy writing that A-level essay on free speech. About 8 hours ago, it was announced that Moz had another top 10 single, but what do we have on here tonight? Endless threads of crap about whether or not BG really wants to kill David T, and Improper baiting him for a fight.

It's David's site, let him do what he wants with it. If you don't like it, invest some money in a site of your own and see if people prefer your methods.

The root of the problem is that most people here who think they have a sense of humor are not funny and instead look and act merely stupid.

this is GENERAL discussion, not the main board, or morrisseymusic.com forums, go there instead

discussioAmazing how little actual n goes on here though

And anyway, it's supposed to be "general" as in chat about Moz interspersed with off topic nonsense. The main board is for chat related to news items chosen by David T only.

start off some moz related threads then, can't wait, oh no, you just whine

Re: This IS a board in Morrissey's honor!!

The board is in HIS honor, not yours or mine. The battles that go on on this board are just that They aren't even discussions!

It is not a matter of censorship - it is a matter of respect.

It's an open forum. If that's not what you want then suggest a private site for members only.

Start charging a membership fee here then. Set rules and regulations that potential members have to abide by. Make then sign an agreement. Then you can censor it all you want.

You're preaching to the choir man. People find me and most of the shit I say "offensive",thats good,Im glad to do my f***in part to better society. But,you dont seem to f***in mind when some f***knuckle comes here and talks about how bad this f***in record sucks and that f***in record sucks and morrissey is gay and so forth??????

f*** you!!!!!! It's freedom of speech man,if you dont like it,too f***in donkey dick bad. Most of the f***in dillweeds here get "offended" by every little f***in thing you or I say anyways,so them getting pissed is nothing f***ing new.

Quite frankly,I could give two shakes of a dogs dick what people here think of me or what i have to say, that's why Im the PIMP,and you're not. People want to try to control you,and when they can't,they suddenly become "offended" with everything you say.

Tell em all to GO f*** THEMSELVES...and if anyone has a problem with that, they can direct their anger at me,Ill be happy to set em the f*** straight.

Like yourself mostly. This coming from a person who is just as you say......nice of you to admit it finally. Bravo

Re: While I don't particularly want to dignify that load of horseshit with a comment...

Im actually glad moz has another top 10 single, and I hope he has a few more off quarry. America is not the world I think could be an excellent 3rd or fourth single release. what do you think lutewine????? I also think I have forgiven jesus is wonderfully brilliant and could equally be as good,if not better for the 3rd single release as AINTW.Again, what do you think?????

Re: While I don't particularly want to dignify that load of horseshit with a comment...

LOL!!!!! THAT WAS JUST SO f***ING FUNNY OMG LOL!!!!!

It is not so much that what you say is offensive...

Offensive language is not the issue. Its not even so much the incessant insults. The problem is you just aren't very good at it. You are dull and repetitive (and you really should get that axis 2 personality disorder looked after).

This board would be better with moderate moderation.

The idea that a discussion board somehow honours someone is ridiculous. Its just a place for bored people to spout drivel.
