It isn't criticism that disturbs me. You started out very offensively and I responded and that seems to have bothered you. Here is the part you can't accept: Your opinion means nothing except to yourself and anyone you might be able to convince.
you really like negative characterizations don't you? if nobody questions your adjectives you're half-way there. I'm referring to "cult-like". I just happen to love the music. I don't read the books about Morrissey. There are no posters on my wall. I don't attempt to imitate him, as so many do. That's fine though. It's even sort of cool, it's just not for me. But what I find distrurbing are the fans that have such bitterness towards Morrissey.
Have you read about Mark David Chapman? He didn't hate John Lennon. He was a big fan. He just got it a little twisted, and one reason was because he identified too strongly with Lennon, to the point that he felt he had to kill him to re-establish his own identity. That's my impression anyway based on what I read years ago. My point is that some people aren't too happy with the new song, but they don't take it personally. A lot of the comments I've read seem to be those of people who somehow feel betrayed that Morrissey isn't giving them what they want.
For me hearing the new song made me feel incredibly happy. It gave me a real boost. So it is a little bit disappointing that there are either a lot of people that disagree, or that they are just so vocal. I wish everyone felt like I do when I hear it because it's a great feeling. But it isn't people that don't like it that I have a problem with. It's people calling it "shit" because it certainly isn't shit, or people like you that imagine themselves to be critics, that are going to "explain" the song to us, that repeatedly say "Led Zeppelin" because they have nothing else to say.
The fact is, however uncool it may be to like Led Zeppelin here at this forum, they were incredibly innovative musically and technically, and if the worst you can say is "sounds like Zeppelin", to me that is not such a bad thing.
You mention that you criticize everyone in your family. I hope that you try not to do it in such a condescending way as you have done here. As far as "everyone" being a glutton for punishment, I don't know what you are talking about. You mean the punishment you will endure as you choose to continue to listen to Morrissey's half-baked Led Zeppelin lifts? You have my sympathy.
