alright forget about my last topic
i decided to analyse i know its over
what do you think
"Sad veiled bride, please be happy
Handsome groom, give her room
Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly
(Though she needs you
More than she loves you) "
has got to do with the rest of the song?

The person he fancies is getting married so the relationship Morrissey fantasised about is over.

I think it's a written from the sensitive side of people, of men in this case, seeing people getting together, sometimes out of desperation, because they don't want to be 'left on the shelf' and mistakedly think they'll be better off with someone rather than no-one at all (when this is definitely not the case).. anyway, my interpreattion would then see the the girl getting treated badly yet still comes back for more mental (and maybe physical) cruelty from a boorish, ignorant man. When the shy sensitive soul observing this as an outsider, having ostensibly so much more to give, will never be able to rescue her into a loving, healthy relationship.

'She needs you more than she loves you' is one of the best Morrissey lyrics ever. It was a soundtrack to a personal break up many moons ago.

Re: so who is the voice tellin him "if youreso funny..."?

Does it need a voice?.. it could be the 'voice of experience', the voice of reason? Just shows that it doesn't matter how good you are, how much you own, what you look like.. you can win the lottery of life, yet can always end up unhappy and alone..

I must admit, I just commented on the lines you asked for, not in the context of the whole song.. It's a wondrously deep work.

You need to join the dots yourself mate in order to deeply appreciate these songs, find out what it means to you, what does it say about your life. No one else can answer those questions.

Ruffian, We have an ambush winner! Inane postings, hardly, but why even bother, people are so ungrateful on this board. Not me though, Im always up for some bat and balling banter with the top guy on this board.

His Mother.

Though I agree with Ruffian, that it is a complex work and is open to interpretation.
