Until 48 hours ago I had the entire show from this date. Unfortunately I dropped my cd and it has cracked. Therefore I am now missing tracks 11 & 12. If anyone can upload those two tracks and cmplete the show for everyone I would really appreciate it. Thanks

New Adventures - Stripped Mixes:

this is a new mix of the album (minus zither) that i made by acquiring the multi tracks and taking off certain instruments or turning some instruments up or down. all the tracks sound totally different. for example, bittersweet me is all acoustic guitar/singing, as is ebow, and undertow sounds amazing!

up next is a stripped version of around the sun. i plan to remove all the synths off the album, leaving just bass, guitar, drums, vocals and piano wherever possible. for example, this cannot be done for electron blue as there is no guitar in the track whatsoever :crazy: whereas worst joke ever sounds brilliant! ;)

anyones opinions would be really appreciated!

This is one of my favourite R.E.M. album, so I think the orginal album is better, because I love the electric gutitar sound. The new mix you did her isn't bad, but the version of The Wake-Up Bomb is realy bad. Good sound in the other songs, but I would love to hear the Around the Sun record, I think this will be much better.:thumb:

yeah its one of my favourites too, and i dont think there's anyway it could sound better. its interesting to here the amount of layers REM actually put onto their albums, like the piano in low desert. what did you think of undertow and electrolite?

and yes ive done a few songs on around the sun. its hard to remove all the synths cos unfortunately they're kind of mixed into all the seperate tracks but it still sounds alot better stripped down, kinda like how magnetic north sounded.

Electrolite: It's maybe better if there had been drums on it.
Undertow: Dosn't work. Everytime I try to play it, I got a message who tells me the file is hurt.

I've just played Last days of our aquaintance for the first time in years. I love Sineads version of the song about her divorce with her first husband, but with Stipes voice, I think it takes the song to a whole other level.

Thanks to SOTN for the rareties stuff. Quick question though. The prefix numbers do not really follow on. Is this just because the tracks are from a variety of sources and you are calling the collection Rareties of US? or are they tracks of a larger collection that is called that?

I do have a four cd set called Stipe Hunting - Field Recordings that gathers together guest appearance and the like. I could upload but this looks like it includes a lot of those tracks and more.

hey i actually have multi tracks for all albums between document and around the sun. at the moment i can only find monster, naihf, ats, reveal, up and aftp. i'll get around to uploading them as soon as i can, its a very interesting listen!

just out of interest, has anyone considered setting up a blog for this thread?? this could be the place where everyone posts their links and request and the download links get put onto the blog? would be very cool...
 
OK folks, i've neglected the wife and daughter, starved the dog, locked the doors and done all I could to get as many uploaded over the weekend as possible. I can't believe what a slow process it all is.

Makes you appreciate the time and effort put in by other uploaders, so muchos thanks to SOTN, Fanofre, Falltoclimb and the others for their uploads.

Unfortunately Im not likely to get to upload anymore for some time. I'm hoping 2-3 weeks. This should give you time to download (and play) some of what i've put up anyway. Feel free to put it on other sites and blogs, the more that is spread freely the less likely a fan will get ripped off on ebay.

So for now heres the last of what I could get done. Enjoy!

No rarities of us is a fanmade collection. Got volumes 1-5 back in 2003/4. It is mainly b-sides, fan club singles & promos but there are a lot of collaborations too. After volume 5 I made the compilations for other fans but in recent years when cd trading “died off” Ive just compiled stuff together to listen to on the cd player. In total there are 30 cds of rarities of us.

Would love the 4cd Stipe hunting set, I’ve been “hunting” for the set for years. Like you said a lot from the set has been posted but missing tracks like Even a Dog Can Shake Hands, Dreamin' of Eternity Peter Pan & a load more. a lot of the tracks im missing are tracks where bill, buck & mills guest. Strangely they appear on this set although you would think all tracks would be stipe guest spots.
