Why is it that most moz "fans" are unable to accept that HE may not be as good as he used to be?
Every single time someone says anything critical AT ALL you resort to personal attacks and idiotic babble about the merits of "America is not the world" or the REAL brilliance of "Papa Jack".

Morrissey could kill your own mother and I reckon you would still defend him.

Idiots.

Well I wonder what was so great about 1988? Suedehead and Everyday are dull as hell. 1992-1995 (yes, including Southpaw!), on the other hand, those years to me were his creative best.

Lukas

Suedehead and Sunday are only dull because they're overplayed.

Uh-oh. Now I'm really in trouble as I think you are both wrong ;-) I can pick pieces of brilliance and lesser instances throughout his career. But in the end, it is just personal preference and ones ability to relate.

I think everything up to Malajusted is wonderous. You see, I even like Southpaw...but HOW can anyone listen to Malajusted or You are the quarry and think these albums are good?

I AM just bitter - I am just sick of being disapointed by Morrissey.
.and that is the truth.

Yep. Why anyone thinks Quarry is a big step forward after Maladjusted is beyond me.

You Are the Maladjusted Quarry

Quarry is a decent album, but doesn't have the style of anything Viva Hate through Southpaw Grammar. IMHO, YATQ is just a more refined and better version of Maladjusted. Take out "All the Lazy Dykes" and "Let Me Kiss You," replace them with "Alma Matters," "Maladjusted" and you have a much better album.

You are dumb.

Why bother coming here then if all you want to do is slag off, safe in the arrogant and stupid belief that you are somehow superior to those who continue to like him today? Do you need to skite at the people you patronise in order to feel good about yourself? I think if that's how you feel and given how you act its time you moved on. Find a new artist or band or hobby. You need it.

I agree. I just don't understand why people consider Quarry a huge change in direction. It's not. It's the same stuff with a bit more polish.

Polish, refined, & realized. Experimental. Nothing "adult contemp." about it. Just listen...just keep listening. You are going to love it soon enough.

Re: You Are the Maladjusted Quarry

Experimental? You have got to be f***ing kidding me. No offense, but seriously!

Listen to "I'm Not Sorry." From mandolin to flute to harp to moog keyboard, its richly textured musical layers see Morrissey exploring new musical territory. Quarry crosses many genres, incorporating subtle elements of dance, jazz, world and rock.

Experimental for him, not for Radiohead.

Now that you put it like that...fitting as much crap as you can into a song may make it experimental but it doesn't make it good (the two are not synonyms -- do I really need to reiterate how much I despise Radiohead?). That being said, "I'm Not Sorry" is one of the better songs on the album. I'll grant that.

like a fine age, Morrissey gets better with wine...
