Mark Simpson's "saint Morrissey" written like some sort of juvenile's diary

Is it just me or is that man an annoying twit? He writes like a twelve year old, quoting morrissey lyrics every time someone bumps into him in the queue for a sandwich, or burps in his direction. I've only got through the first 20 pages, but what a loathesome character this Simpson is.

I wasn't impressed either Broken. Went to the bar after the first 3 pages of his reading at the S&G.

yeh i have started to read it and just lost interest-its collecting dust now
it is too slow for my liking
im not illiterate -lol but some of the words he uses are just too over descriptive and make no sense to me at all
utter shite!

Re: true broken

He reminds me of a fifth former just getting to grips with using longer words in sentences - some of the adjectives he uses are so florid that they make me chuckle. And I don't mean that in a good way. It's obvious he's just a mediocre sod playing at being clever.

That just about sums up most people who write music biographies, the vast majority are pretty dire affairs, even with access to those closest to a given artist they tend to make a mess out of it. I feel so deflated after reading the Kirsty MacColl biography by Karen O'Brien that I don't think I'll bother with another one for a very long time. Not unless written by someone actually involved with the subject at hand, eg Harmony in my head by Steve Diggle, A Dysfunctional Success by Eric Goulden/Wreckless Eric or The Stranglers Song by song book by Hugh Cornwell.

Considering Morrissey is the most open songwriter there has ever been, the fact that anyone would write a book about him is a contradiction in terms, and quite hilarious.

Don't worry, I'll re-imburse you for it with something equally as long, hard, and exhausting

It received great reviews because it is great. Best book (I wouldn't really call it a bio) on Morrissey to date.
