My book came in the mail today. Very strange, since the jacket copy indicates that June 1st is Johnny and Dorothy's wedding day and the novel centers around this date.

I'm very much looking forward to this read. Going to start as soon as I'm done with Morrissey: Scandal and Passion.

You may need to have a long hot bath after reading that tripe.
I still can't get the stink off and it's been 6 months.

I was a an English lit major in college, so I must admit that I never delved into the crime noir genre, but I'm hoping for a light read with this.

I'm not expecting a masterpiece, but is it really that bad? I figure it will be worthwhile at least for the strange Morrissey/Marr parallel.

Sorry mate, I've not read the other, I was talking about David "Morrissey is DEFINITELY GAY and I can prove it" Bret's dreadful rubbish, which, although it was marginally better than his first efforet, Blandscapes of the Mind, was still error strewn and badly written.

Ah, I'm with you on that one. Bret's unending propensity to "suggest" that Morrissey is a homosexual is at once tiresome, trite and pretentious. There are also portions of the text where the author makes himself seem like a somewhat amateur, if not hyper-passive journalist, who is never the less quite self-congratulatory.

I have Bret's first book and Lord knows why I haven't thrown it in the trash.

Have you read Saint Morrissey? They have it at my local Barnes & Noble and I was hesitant to buy it because I think I saw bad reviews here...or someplace.
