DT: IP hash block feasible?

Oh, Jesus, simply search"FWD" or/and "Ketamine" on this very forum. There is no need to go to the interwebs.
Follow their lead.

They are not hissy enough for me! ;)

This thread blew up like the World Trade.

Poor baby. Are words hurting you? You only want to read things that you like to read? GROW UP, CHILD. Free speech, look into it. I'm sure there's people who do not want to hear about sand in your nasty "vagina".

Davidt, how can anonymous posters block cry babies like FWD so we don't have to sift through the tears and whining? (Don't answer that, David, I know there's no way.)
Coward.

Usually random personal attacks are not approved but in this case it seemed pretty specific and I thought FWD might be interested in seeing them as it seemed to be posted by more than an acquaintance. No need to respond to them. I could move these to some thread in the pigsty but that gets confusing and is more work. On the moderating end we see a list of comments to moderate, skim through them and click approve or not. It's several more steps to move the posts to another thread.
This response is incredibly revealing. Keep this post in your pocket my friends.

With respect, this is simply not true. I have never seen an internet forum where comments like "I hope you get cancer" or "I hope your family dies" are allowed. Or where personal attacks in other languages (like Swedish) are approved (unless you are seriously telling me that your moderators run them through google translate, and then decide "oh pretending to be the deceased partner of a registered poster writing mock messages from hell seems like a nice contribution to this forum, let's approve it!"). No, it looks like you approve pretty much everything apart from spam and porn, even the Nazi's hate speech. Now I'm not going to get my knickers in a bunch and I am not exactly the most soft-spoken poster either, but to say that random personal attacks are not approved is just not true. Maybe you filter out some, but a lot still gets through.

Urban is hilarious, FIRST OF ALL. It's really really simple. If you don't like it, leave. Make your own website, pay the bills and you can do what you like. Until then, go f*** yourself. Mmmmkay? Fanks. "With Respect", which means you mean to give none.

The personal attack in Swedish you mention does sound questionable, but shouldn't posts in other languages be allowed?
And here is the real point. This site is not your personal blog so don't post any personal information. If you give a troll the information they can use to attempt to cause you distress and then you engage them in a hostile fashion you gave them the means to attack you. On Reddit you can be banned for posting any personal information. Talking about your personal life isn't quite like posting identifying details but it does carry with it the risk that it will be used against you.
That doesn't make it right. That doesn't justify it. But this site is known to harbor a few hostile posters. As bad as what you're talking about sounds much worse has occurred here, and has carried over into people's lives outside of the site. I could write you quite a list of things that have happened to people who posted here.
If you're going to tell the site and the Internet about your personal life you're probably going to regret it or you're going to learn to ignore that shit. Once you don't care what they say you can tell them your whole life story if you want to. But you do "overshare." From reading your posts even having no personal interest in you I have learned quite a bit about you from just casually reading your posts. I didn't know you had a partner who passed away. I'm sorry about that. But the point is that now I know and I know that it bothered you when someone, oh and I wonder who, decided to use that against you. There are people that collect those details and take an interest in anyone who posts here enough to catch their attention.
Other people here write a great deal but reveal nothing of interest to anyone except another of the "three mental patients" who constantly post here. But you write things that make trolls salivate.
And the person that started this thread just wants to control a website instead of realizing that all they can control is how they react to it.
They do have smaller websites and websites where you have to be a member to even read the comments. They have websites, like true to you, where you can't post a comment at all. You're on a site dedicated to a person who has wished death on heads of state, endorsed the bombing of the homes of scientists, compared the massacre of teenagers to fried chicken, and makes more news for his latest outrage than he makes for his music, and you want to be able to tell the world your personal life and opinions and have only reasonable and thoughtful responses?
It's ridiculous.

you just haven't earned it yet, Quando ;)

I guess not.
But in the future when all is well.
In the afterlife, until then, I remain your's, truly.
Come to think of it now, I might be lucky by not earning anything at all.
Apart from the unavoidable hassle when money is needed to survive, somehow.
You rule, Ketamine Sun :p

I guess it depends on what forum people want. Personally, I prefer people talking about themselves, their lives and experiences rather than sterile "facts" or tired internet memes. It makes for more vibrant, more interesting forums. I am more interested in reading what other Morrissey fans think about life, live, drinking and colour of blazers than seeing yet another Trump meme that I've already seen eight times elsewhere. As for over-sharing, I shared that my partner died after a long battle with lymphoma, and two sentences about my grief. It's hardly over-sharing. I am aware of the risks of making myself vulnerable. I don't expect interest or sympathy, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to not have the death of a spouse mocked, even on the internet. (Not to mention all the anti-gay abuse that I keep absorbing - or is my homosexuality perhaps also something I shouldn't have shared for fear of trolls using it against me?) I'm not buying into the idea that the internet is this alternative universe where one shouldn't be sincere or vulnerable because evil trolls. Conversation on an internet message board is just as "real" as, well, real-life conversation. It's not a Herculean moderating effort to reject mean-spirited troll posts and make the place a little more welcoming in the process. I think it's great these forums exist, admire davidt for having the balls to host this and have said thank you to him before, but it is simply not true that random personal attacks don't get approved, because they do, and I think the forums would be better without the anonymous aggression of the "I hope you get cancer" kind and Nazi dreck. Just my opinion.

Literally, you just made my point.

1) First, there's a caption, or whatever they are called, with the military officer saying that to someones face. Which is the whole point here. People like you can do and say stupid stuff like that because you hide behind your mom's computer in the basement.
2) You're 5th grade sentence with 5th grade language....well, I need not say more.
3) You're an idiot, and don't realize that you have just validatted the point of the intelligent people on this thread (website) with your sophomoric post.
4) You wouldn't know respect, or how to give it, if someone taught it to you, because, well...your an idiot.

I believe this is the thread you are referring to in which an anonymous person responded to a post that led to some arguing. There is actually more than just the 'Get Cancer Now' part to the message so you have to view it in context.

what does an avatar have to do with anything? you're anonymous to me and I don't give a shit who you are. all i know is you're a loser who comes to a morrissey website to talk shit about morrissey.

GET CANCER NOW.

I understand you wish to see this censored, but you are also a bit unusually biased after revealing your partner died after a life long battle with lymphona in the same post. I'm sorry this is a sensitive topic for you personally, maybe someday there will be more refined filters but for now if someone mentions that someone should get [insert disease] it isn't a violation. There were other reports over that post but because it was mistakenly thought the post was directed at Morrissey.

I am genuinely shocked ay your view here David

It's an assumption that I'm unusually biased, and it's quite unfair and ugly. The post you are referring to wasn't even directed at me, other people who have not lost their partner to cancer have reacted to the "get cancer now" post also - I am not the only one. It's all there, just read the thread. There's at least ten other people condemning it.

You and all those other people supposedly offended could have downvoted that post but you didn't use that tool, so it still remains. Posts are hidden from view if 5 people downvote (see General Posting Policy) so that post quoted earlier just needs one more vote. Perhaps if you had just used that option it would accomplish what you want.

Are you actually a human being David, how an earth is "get cancer now" acceptable on any level. I also find it disturbing as I lost both my mum and my 3 year old niece to that dreadful disease. The comments should be removed and the poster banned.

No, David is not human. He's a Mexican Robot. If you don't like it, LEAVE.

FFS, you cant get cancer from someone wishing it on a internet forum.
Or the flu. I think you learn that in the first grade.
but obviously, it produces hissy fits galore.
