Especially when you are northern.

When I lived in the U.K. in 1988 I always thought northerners were nicer, happier to help if you were lost, inviting you into their homes, etc. I was too cautious, thanks to being American. But I appreciated it all the same.

Yes Colleen, us northerners are quite a different breed from our southern counterparts. We are generally more friendly and welcoming, I guess it comes with the territory. Southerners are generally more stand-offish shall we say, not exactly the good samaratin.

I remember striking up a conversation with another girl on the Tube and she just said, "Hey, why don't you come over, my mother would love to meet you!" and I declined. I felt too cautious (thank you America blah) I probably would have had a great time. I still regret that.

I know Colleen, "Regrets I've had a few, but then again, too many to mention"

What is the point though in looking back, God knows, it gets us nowhere does it.
We have to just plod on and make the most of what is ahead.
We are a long time dead Colleen.

Seriously, you're exactly right. Next time I'm in the U.K. share some grease tea with me, okay? (English Breakfast, four sugars and milk please )
