amnesiac (Radiohead)

I've been able to recently download some amnesiac mp3s (For those who hate the idea of mp3s, I fully intend to buy the album when it comes out so you can settle down) and I have to say that I think it is an alum on par with kid A. The only thing that bothers me about it is that it is only 45 minutes long unless Radiohead puts on a secret track or something. And in that 45 minutes is included a different version of morning bell so I think that's a bit of a cop out (because I know Radiohead could put on something like True Love Waits which they have been playing off and on during concerts but hasn't been released yet to my knowledge) to make it 11 new songs vs. 10.

In any case, it is closest to Kid A as far as comparisons to other Radiohead albums go. I especialy like a couple of the songs-Knives Out, Spinning Plates, Life in a Glass House.

I know alot of you have expressed hatred against radiohead and I've read about you arguments but I really don't care how many peoplelike them or how often they are played on radio stations and/or if they were marketing Kid A in a strategic way to precisely get more sales. None of this is relevant to me. What is relevant is that their music touches me.

i hate radiohead not because people think they're cool or because they have great marketing skills, etc. i just hate their negative vibe. i think they're excellent musicians with a bundlefull of creative ideas, but to me it means nothing because i feel repulsed by the vibe their music creates.

however, i remember being at a pixies concert where the vibe they put out was so bad i had to leave, but i never felt this vibe listening to their records.

i say a prayer for thom yorke, he seems unable to stop being angry for even one tormented second.

i know someone could listen to the smiths and morrissey and say to me "how could you listen to this depressive stuff" but the smiths and morrissey never depressed me, it was like a food i needed.

so to make a long paragraph short, to each her/his own. the music's there for all to choose from and when you love a piece of music, who cares what anyone says or thinks.

really? well it is kindof dark and it feels very emotional to me but I identify with it. I think some of it is very personal and their creativity keeps me interested.

I feel kindof a bad vibe listening to Leonard Cohen at times or The Cure during thier pornography/17 seconds/Faith stage but Radiohead I just sort of feel emotionally conected to. But yeah-to each her/his own.

As to the Pixies, I don't really get the sense of a negaive vibe from their records either but unfortunately I have not heard all of theirs-but the ones I have and own I like alot.

I don't know as if I'd say he was unable to stop being angry for even one tormented second. But I would definitely say he was unable to stop being tormented for one angry second.

yeah. That's how music is to me but specifically certain bands. Radiohead is right up there.

exactly. Well, I was preparing myself against backlash I've already read through once.

ah, a great title for something: "one angry second."

no backlash here, just an opinion.

just curious if you could describeeee said vibe because i don't quite understand what you're getting at? i don't think its that you view it as depressing (because you mentioned people interpreting so called depressing music in various ways). so. just maybe some clarification... what is it exactly? their pretentiousness? their politics? or just the sound? actually, i happen to think most of their members are socially retardedddd. because all they do is drink and strum and play on the internet and make babies and go bald, but thats beside my point. i think they've made some incredibly uplifting music. i'm feeling good vibrations marky mark style see?

that doesn't describe either the music or the band members in my opinion.

how can i describe the vibe---it's just a physical feeling, and there's no logical justification for it. it's something that makes me want to run out of the room screaming and tearing at my hair. i did like "airbag" when i first heard it (especially live) but it's been all downhill from there.

i'm not in a position to rate radiohead's social skills because i don't have many myself.

right now i'm feeling good vibes from coldplay's "yellow"---and i've no logical justification for that either.

True Love waits in beautiful. I love it. I don't know why they haven't put it on an album yet...it is a very old song. But I have the live version to tide me over until. 45 minutes is a bit short.. but we did just get an album from them a while ago so I consider this even better.. even if it is short.

Haven't heard any of the new songs.. I want to be surprised ;-p

I don't care either I love me some Radiohead.. Their music makes me Feel good and that's all that really matters. I'm happy for them when they sell numerous albums and even happier that they were #1 for a time being. They deserve it dammit! And I haven't read anyone elses comments about this topic yet but I'm sure they have something horrible to say ;-/
