Bit dull, really. A shame, because a slow song with little music can really work well for Moz, but even compared to something like "Dear God, Please Help Me", this falls far short. And while I appreciate a bit of experimental weirdness, on every listening after the first, the last two minutes...
Ringleader. The most mature album, and the most cohesive album. It demands you listen to the whole thing.
Quarry is four good singles and a lot of filler, and Refusal is a few truly great moments, but more that are average.
When "Mute Witness" is an album highlight, you know you're in trouble. ;)
I don't think it's terrible, but there are a few really bad songs on it ("Asian Rut", "Camera Eye"), and its highs really aren't that high. When I want to put a Morrissey album on, I just tend to forget this one exists...
I've been a fan since 2006. I gave "Boy With The Thorn" a 10, "On The Streets I Ran" a 6, "Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself" a 10 and "My Dearest Love" a 10. So where do I fit into the theory? ;)
Simple fact is, I love the song. Lyrically it's short, but not slight - it has the same...
I think you might be right. I can think of a few YoR songs which could be contenders.
One thing these threads are missing so far - where's Comtesse? Always enjoyed her comments on the songs.
Well, after a quick calculation, this one certainly isn't going to be a threat to the top 100 ...
Thanks so much for doing this again, Houdini! Looking forward to updating the "Top 100" playlist on my iPod. :D
I gave it a 7. It chugs along nicely, if a bit blandly, but then really picks up with "my sentimental heart hardens".
And I just want to say - how brilliant to have these polls back!
Always be careful
When you abuse the one you love
The hour or the day, no one can tell
But one day goodbye will be farewell
And you will never see the one you love again
Maybe a lesson to be learnt from this. :p

The "expanded" Maladjusted also has all those Rare Tracks b-sides, and also has "Sorrow Will Come in the End" for those in the UK. You'd also need the expanded You Are the Quarry for a couple more b-sides...
At various times it's been The Boy With The Thorn In His Side, Stretch Out and Wait, Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me, November Spawned a Monster and I Can Have Both, among the others mentioned in this thread.
