Haydn were a classical composer that composed in the same style of mozart. But mozart came after haydn and was much better.

musically speaking, certainly not. They have as much energy as ramones, and their melodies are better.

if you talk about lyrics, i don`t understand blink-182`s ones, and i don`t care.

but you have to agree that ramones are not known as great poets...

It's really not looking to good for you, stick to mentioning The Smiths, childish music such as Blink 182 & The Beastie Boys should not be infesting this message board.

As someone who grew up with the whole punk thing I have a chip on my shoulder about these mainly yankie upstarts who put out third rate shite, leading to people defining it as 'punk' and comparing them with the original bands, the whole punk thing ceased to exist over 20 years ago.

Then again I do have a chip on my shoulder about most things.

Beastie Boys were always a cartoon rap band.... why have Beastie Boys (rich upper middle class boys pretending to be 'street') when you can have Public Enemy - the PROPER stuff?

Still, Beastie Boys made a few catchy pop songs I suppose.

...Americans even try to lay claim to punk - well, sorry, The Ramones and the NY Dolls were ROCK bands, NOT punk bands... the whole CBGBs scene was a hoary ROCK scene... at best it produced a few decent new wave bands, but punk? Nah....

Punk was the baby of Mr McLaren and Vivienne Westwood back in the 70s in their Sex shop on the Kings Road, it was as fabricated as the boybands of today are, definitely, but it was a powerful statement and, sorry, but it is a BRITISH thing - a reaction the the bloody mess this country was in at the time - musically and politically.

Maybe we could do with another uprising like this one?

Intersting argument to a point.. But Blink 182 I can absolutely guarantee will not be spoken about in the same reverential tones (however over-rated they may or may not have been) as the Ramones..

Blink 182 sound far too manufactured.. Listen to the new British boys 'The Lost Prophets' or the cool new American boys 'the BRMC'.. That's 4 real.

And of course, poetry in rock music was the provnec of Morrissey, Lloyd Cole, Nick Cave, and very few others.. Not the Ramones or the Blink 182! Even Limp Bizkit have a charm Blink 182 do not.

beastie boys made some albums all critics consider the best ones of the last decade. But you, as a pedantic morrissey fan, has an "index" of bands that should not mentioned here. You are disgusting.

i don't care about "yankie upstarts". If i like a song, i hear it. But you pay much attention about things that have nothing to do with the music itself. Bach and Mozart made most of their marvelous music only because they were paid in advance. They made "commercial" music? perhaps. But for someone like you that grew with the whole punk thing perhaps Bach was a boring old guy.

I can have Beastie Boys and Public Enemy and Snoop Doggy Dogg. I don't know why i should do differently.
