The lyrics are brilliant, but not very typical Morrissey. If you'd have read them out to me and asked me to guess I would have gone for Leonard Cohen.
Musically it's also very good, but I'm a little surprised by how good other people seem to think the music is. Maybe after a few more listens. Agree it is reminiscent of Jack the Ripper. I really hope the album is varied, though, and not just straightforward rock, rock, rock.
I'm not sure it's going to perform much better than the last one in the charts, though.
