Song Morrissey should cover

I just heard a Donovan song, "Catch The wind" on some comericial. and it got me thinking that would be a great song for Morrissey to cover..

I was recently listening to a Soft Cell CD which I hadn't played in ages, and thought "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" would be an excellent choice also.

I totally agree.. That would be a great choice..
I love Marc Almond

I was thinking the very same question when I was out and about today.

My ongoing list of songs I would like to hear Morrissy cover

I will probably get a sound thrashing by many for my choices, but I would like to hear Morrissey cover these songs, in his own style, of course:

The Sundays "You're Not The Only One"
Depeche Mode "Everything Counts"
Depeche Mode "Deaths Door"
Mazzy Star "Give You My Lovin"
Mazzy Star "Blue Flower"
10,000 Maniacs "Verdi Cries"
Dead Can Dance "Fortune Presents Gifts Not According To The Book"
The Innocence Mission "Notebook"
This Mortal Coil "Til I Gain Control Again"
Nick Cave "The Weeping Song"
Nick Cave "Into My Arms"
The Sisters of Mercy "More"
The Cranberries "Linger"
Leonard Cohen "Heart With No Companion"
Leonard Cohen "Famous Blue Raincoat"
Leonard Cohen "The Window"
Heather Nova "Maybe An Angel"
Love & Rockets "Haunted When the Minutes Drag"
Pet Shop Boys "It's A Sin"
New Order "Regret"
REM "Everybody Hurts"
Soft Cell "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye"

Some good songs on that list like Nick Cave for instance...but Everybody Hurts?
surely not, that'd be cringe worthy. ! Regret by New Order is a weird one too...just couldn't imagine him singing that one, might be just me.

I'd quite like Mogsy to cover the Yeah Yeah Yeah's 'Maps',"Wait, they don't love you like i love you" he could croon that in his PJ'S.....oh my what an image.
It's a beautiful song...can't say i'm a massive fan of them but credit where credits due.

i always thought he should coveR "it's my life" By talk talk but no doubt beat him to it.
i just think he could sing the bridge BRILLIANTLY go on, think about it

Give this song a listen

Here is a song he should cover.

The lyrics are simple, but thematically but I think he could have penned them.

Name that tune

A song Morrissey should cover

I know people on here hate David Gray, but he's already done an extremely good cover of Soft Cell's 'Say Hello, Wave Goodbye' that would render any Moz version redundant, as it's slowed down and stripped to a very Morrissey style already.
My musical guilty pleasure is Del Amitri, and I've always thought Moz would do a brilliant cover of 'Spit In The Rain'; even the title sounds like his and the guitars would suit Boz's rockabilly playing. I also reckon Moz could inject the right amount of passion and venom into it that Del Amitri couldn't achieve.
C'mon Moz, make my day, play it on your next tour:

You can grin but you can’t hide
All the emptiness inside
Since she left you like spit in the rain

Without doubt it is true
She was the only love you knew
Now she’s gone it fades away
Like spit in the rain

And you can try to find her
But you’ll be looking in vain
Because love disappears like spit in the rain

You can try to figure out
Why you mean nothing to her now
But you might just as well
Just go spit in the rain

Maybe then you will find
Her sweet memory in your mind
Washed away, out of sight
Like spit in the rain

Without doubt it is true
Without her there’s only you
But with a little luck and a little time
You’ll pull through

Cranberries' Linger!! I do think Morrissey would do that well.
Maybe "Wild is the Wind - Bowie " as well would be nice.

No, I think a cover of "I Touch Myself" by the Divynils. That would be amusing!
If it's good enough for Harry Hill, it's good enough for the Mozster.

Roxy Music "No Strange Delight"

Roxy Music "No Strange Delight"
I'd like to hear Morrissey cover this song. I just think this lyrics match him.

So there goes your life
Disappeared from ever loving friends
And now a slave to obsession
Your strange delight
You lie awake
How your senses ache
Shaking off the night
Is there more strange delight?

There goes your self
In the clear forever out of line
And there you´ll stay through obsession
Your strange delight
Can't bear this heat
You poor heart skips a beat
Tearing off the years
To when you really cared
So where's your soul?

In the field where every story ends
And then how plain your obsession
Your strange delight
So this is hell
Not so hard to tell
Better men than I
Have tried your strange delight
Is there no strange delight?

A Windy Day..

He should redo Pet Shop Boy's Your Funny Uncle:

A windy day, the cars in slow formation
Not far away a final destination
One mother's son
his father's distant gaze regretting
where they went wrong
He always found it too upsetting

Me and my friend
we lived our lives completely
from start to end
you and your friend so sweetly
with strength and pride
in spite of everything and swimming
against the tide
to obstinately hope of winning

And, at the end, your funny uncle staring
at all your friends with military bearing
And stopped to stand
to smile and speak of you directly
'Good-bye', shake hands
like you did everything correctly
to wipe away the tears
No more pain, no fear
No sorrow or dying
No waiting or crying
These former things have passed away
Another life begins today
