In an old Ben Is Dead. I found this link on Mrs Shankley's. I did not remember this. Does she still hate him as much. I wonder, since they just played on the same stage a few months ago.......?

MORRISSEY:S.Q.G.: "What do you think of Morrissey?"Sioux: "Bulldog nationalist," she spits. "Morrissey's an asshole. He wanted a bulldog on the cover. He had hidden personal politics." She didn't want this nationalistic symbol on the cover of the record they sang on together. "He said 'Okay' at the rehearsal. Then he went behind my back because I'm too aggressive. How lame. He couldn't say it to my face."

Is it me or is Sioxsie bonkers? The cover of Interlude is a Roger Mayne pic of a woman. There isn't a bulldog in sight? What the peekaboo is she talking about, silly old goth????!

Re: Siouxsie duet - whose idea?

BTW, how did the Siouxsie duet come about?

Re: Siouxsie duet - whose idea?

I read somewhere that Morrissey wrote to her and asked her to do it.

Siouxie sez to Moz: Melt, my lover, melt!!!

Who is talking???
The same Siouxie Sioux who used to wear Swastika armband at 1979??? LMQAO

On the other hand, I like her, she is a great artist, she saved my life when I was in hi-school. Also, she later was wearing Jewish Star as an apology for playing up Nazi symbols. Interestingly enough, Sex Pistols never apologized for their swastika punk days, unlike Sioux... Oh, remember Absolutely Fabulous sitcom, starting with her enchanting song Wheels On Fire?

Now, let me enlighten you what Siouxie exactly told Moz...

"Melt!"

"You are the melting men
and as you melt
you are beheaded
handcuffed (in lace, blood and sperm)
swimming in poison
gasping in the fragrance
sweat carves a screenplay
of discipline and devotion

So melt, my lover, melt
She said...
melt, my lover, melt

can you see?
see into the back of the long black car
pulling away from the funeral of flowers
with my hand between your legs,
melting..."

Actually, and I just learned this myself, "Wheels On Fire" was originally a song by Julie Driscoll, a 1960's rock/pop star who is an idol of Siouxie's. Julie Driscoll also first came up with the great eye make-up that Sioux made as her own trademark. There's a mention of this in this month's 'In Style' magazine.

Wheels On Fire

For real? I thought "Wheels On Fire" was written by Bob Dylan. Maybe this Julie Driscoll covered it.

The version used as theme music for "AbFab" is done by Rik Mayall (yes, the comedian) and some lady whose name I don't remember.

For real. It's the same song. I think it's on Siouxsie's Through the Looking Glass album.

The Byrds did a really cracking version of it on 1969's Dr. Byrds and Mr. Hyde album, too.

Incidentally, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger, and The Trinity were co-stars of a diabolical TV special with the Monkees, "33 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee," in '69. She sang a soul version of "I'm a Believer" with Micky Dolenz.

Cheers,

Jamie

Yes, she did a cover of "This Wheel's On Fire" (written by Rock Danko along with Bob Dylan) with Brian Augry (sp?) and The Trinity - which they retitled "Wheels On Fire" - but the Julie Driscoll version is probably (even) better known in the UK because it's the theme to "Ab Fab" !

Wow- Rik "the People's Poet" from the Young Ones? Ah- such memories.......but what ever happened to Vyvyan (speaking of studded foreheads......)

D'oh! I got it wrong; it wasn't Rik Mayall

It's Adrian Edmondson. This from the official AbFab site:

"This Wheel's on Fire," and is sung by Julie Driscoll and Adrian Edmondson.

The lyrics are:

Wheels on fire,
Rolling down the road.
Best notify my next of kin,
This wheel shall explode.

"This Wheel's on Fire" is written by Bob Dylan and Rick Danko (from The Band), and is available on Dylan's "The Basement Tapes" and The Band's "Music from Big Pink."

A sound clip of the title song is available at The Global AbFab Site:
