Re: Belle and Sebastian 9/9/01 set list..Why are they so good!?!

Does anyone know if Morrissey was at any of the belle & sebastian shows in LA?

I saw Belle & Sebastian in Barcelona with pulp and james etc.etc... they were one of thee best live acts i have ever seen in my life.
they were absolutly amazing! Cant begin to say enough about that band. they seem like the more they come out with the more impressive they are. i may be one of the few that thinks that Fold your hands child was brilliant, but it was!

James are pretty good as well.. the new album is well worth getting hold of.. if you haven't already.

hah! looks like the 'human jukebox' inspired belle and sebastian... how? i don't know...

i dunno who else was at the wiltern show, but the self-proclaimed 'human jukebox' was singing and dancing to billie jean prior to the show.

I was at the show on Thurs., and did not see him there, but does anyone really know if he does like them for sure, or is it just a specualtion? I never heard him mention them in an interview or anything. Anyways, the second LA show was amazing, and they talked to the crowd A LOT, which was very nice actually. They said that they would return to play much sooner(Well, they never played LA before) and I seriously hope that they do. I was very impressed by there performance, because they outdid my expectations.

morrissey... out of town according to stuart

after the thursday show, stuart spoke to some fans waiting outside the theatre.

at one point, someone asked if they went looking for morrissey during their stay in LA. he replied that they invited him to the shows, however, they (belle and sebastian, or most likely, their management) were unable to reach him because he was reportedly "out of town."

anyway, that's what i remember.

i don't know if morrissey likes belle and sebastian. never met him. someone ought to ask him.

and yeah, the show was amazing. and the band members are (as northern californians say) hella cool to talk to.

Well, I guess that proves the Dublin story. Would that not be interesting if he were abroad doing some recording? Probably he isn't but I think we are all still hoping.

Re: I didn't know they liked Morrissey!

I would have said something too!

Fold Your Hands Child

No Carla, I concur. it's brilliant ... far better then "The Boy With The Arab Strap" ... up there with "Tigermilk" if you ask me. it's their soul album. And "Jonathan David" was brilliant too.

Everyone hates Fold Your Hands!

Why do they hate it? Fold Your Hands is absolutely *beautiful* - one of their best albums, in fact. B&S have never made a bad album in my opinion, anyway. Wah!

Re: I didn't know they liked Morrissey!

Stuart Murdoch has said in an interview at one point that The Smiths were his favourite. (He's said the same thing about The Go-Betweens at other times, but B&S have never covered The Go-Betweens to the best of my knowledge)

You just need to look at B&S's sleeves to see they love The Smtihs.
