they are pretty good, his voice is one of those love it or hate
kind of voices. I think they are sort of one of those inconstant bands. Two songs great, all the rest, fair..

No way...The The is really an amazing band, and their albums have an epic quality to them. Everyone (well, all Smiths fans, anyway) make a big deal that Johnny Marr played with The The. In all reality, he was never THE major creative input for this band...Matt Johnson is definitely the brains (and talent) behind The The. Not to take ANYTHING away from Marr...he just didn't write many of the songs. Sould Mining, Dusk, Mind Bomb...all incredible albums, and the lyrics are chilling. They're much darker and sexually charged then Morrissey's, and he certainly lacks Moz's sense of humor, but it's easy to see why so many Smiths fans dig The The.

> and they gave it an, 'A' rating

thank god, new (heavy emphasis on the new) material from the the!! but is it slated for a north american release? (most importantly canada!). i've been searching the cd shelf instinctively for this band for the past five years. yeeee haaaaa! please come to vancouver matt!!!

Take the song "controversal subject" from back in the day. The vocals are harsh and the music is minimal. If you don't get into his singing style, then the rest of their songs may be unapproachable. His voice is very flat=almost spoken.

Yep! It'll be released in North America on Valentine's Day...how appropriate for all of us lost, lonely and lustful...
