I don't know why I (or perhaps anyone else) bothers to make New Years resolutions?! Mine was to not drink for a whole year....so around midday on Jan 1, I found myself half way through a beer & then thought "sh*t, I'm not meant to be drinking!". I finished that one & have pretty much finised off a carton of beer in a week. I figure I might as well just keep going with it now....but it makes me wonder about why I find it so hard to 'give up' things, I always try and start the day with good intentions.

Yesterday it was another stinking hot day, we had a few friends (and children) over, it was nice. But boy is the house a mess after every toy has been dragged out. I feel like I spend the whole week putting everything back in its place.

David Hicks was released, I think the day before NYE....the radio & newsapers & TV were all over the story. Most of them are complaining that they want an apology from him, for him to show remorse. There was also story about how his ex-wife might have been going to 'set him up' by somehow allowing the reunion with his children to be filmed by 60 Minutes. I know he is living not far from me, but I'm not really bothered. I don't think there is anything to worry about - I think Guantanomo Bay would have (maybe) made him just want to have a quiet life from now on. There's also the issue of if he will write a book or not, I don't think I would be terribly interested in reading it, but it might provide insight into how it all happened & his treatment.

Today we are getting started on turning the garden into a more child friendly zone. Getting new sand for the sanpit, bit of landscaping....can't wait for it to be done.
