What do you guys consider a "REAL" fan?

i often see posts on ebay for rare items that say "a real fan must have this...". Wouldn't it be more like an obsessive collector? I have all of his singles but I'm not going to buy a 'best of' just because the tracks have been rearranged from one of my personally made cdr's. Does that make me a "fake" fan?

LOL, I'm an obsessive collector as well as an appreciative listener to Morrissey/Smiths music. I'm real.

"fan" short for "fanatic" = someone who is over enthusiastic about something/one.
So you choose what you are?
Are you "fanatic" or "like a lot" who's enthusiastic but not overtly?
Does that help/make sense?

I consider myself a "real" fan, in that Morrissey has been my favourite songwriter for 9 years now. I have all the albums (expect for "World of Morrissey", "Suedehead" and "My Early Burglary Years") and all the singles. Personally, I don't think that owning a mispressed CD single with "45 RPM" on it, or a one track promo with a different photo, is all that important. I can appreciate why people like these, but I don't think that owning them enhances appreciation of Morrissey's music.

You Read my mind.

We're on the same page here, including the same 9 year period. I totally adore Morrissey for his music and his wit. I don't know what it is exactly that keeps me hooked but I rarely listen to anything else. But I still won't give up eating meat; sorry. To me, a fan is a person who is a firm believer of the band's musical message and likes them because of their music, not because of how popular they are (ie. nsync). I will be a devoted fan for as long as he writes music, but like you said, I won't buy a "mispressing".

thanks for listening.

No, that makes you a clever person. I won't buy his best of, oh no, not me. I already have the songs, all the songs, and wouldn't pay just for the art cover sleeve, wich by the way, is the worst.

This is obvious. But I am fanatic about Moz, but won't buy his best of. I love the man, every single song, but then again, won't buy that stuff.

I coudn't say better. I really adore Morrissey for his lyrics, voice, good taste, inteligence, wit, his beautiful look, but won't give my money just for a different sleeve.

How about you? Are you a real fan? Who cares about Suzanne anyway?

Who cares? Buy what you like.

What makes one a fan of someone is simply whether or not they
consider themself a fan. It has nothing to do with what you
buy or own. It has to do with how you feel about the music.
