Thanks for that Tom.
I think the Whistle Test performances were the best ever Smiths shows on U.K T.V.

Brilliant introduction from Andy Kershaw. I can't remember it word for word but it was along the lines of:-
" I spent night trying to come up with a list of the truly great bands of the 80's. After 4 hours I looked at my piece of paper and there was only one name on the list. The Smiths"

A statement that stands true to this very day.

Didn't The Smiths record a full show for the Whistle Test? Is this the thing that's going to be shown?

Actually it said ' if you were to ask me the best band of the 80's they're would be only one name on it 'the smiths '.( i think)

I used to have this on tape until my little one taped over it and I agree this is one of the best live recordings ever so set your video recorders out again !

Unmissable. The best performance ever on TV.. Morrissey looks, as the kids on the street say, 'da bomb'.. Vicar in a tutu and a magnificent 'Bigmouth'.. the Smiths were so tight as a 5-piece.

Only 2 songs David but they are amazing.

You may be thinking of The Oxford Road Show which I think was recorded in full.
I could be wrong about that of course
