Did anyone see where Spin has the Smiths 21st on the new list? I saw it on cnn.com under entertainment.

In the mag, under bands the Smiths influenced, it only mentions Radiohead, Moby, and Belle and Sebastian. Uhhh...... How about the whole fuggin' Britpop movement- Blur, Oasis, etc, not to mention Deftones, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, and numerous others; the Smiths' influence transcends genres. Hell, I subscribe to Spin (not a fact I'm proud of, but it's cheap) and they can't go an issue without making some reference to the Smiths. Shoulda been higher than #21.

Britpop - please.

What about the punks and late 70's innovators ? I bet there is no Ruts, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Buzzcocks, Magazine, Undertones, or The Only Ones in that list, they may not be massive musical institutions like bland traditional rock bands, but they were a damned sight more alive.
