Could this be a song concerning the break-up with Jnny Marr and all the wonderful music they could have made, yet never did?

A good friend of mine thinks this song might be sung from Jobriath's perspective. She pointed out that he had written a number of unreleased songs with "Symphony #..." as titles.

I liken it to a melding of the sentiments of "I'd Love To" with John Betjeman's "A Child Ill."

I'm guessing it's probably not about Jake.

I just got the new single and B-sides from iTunes. I think Never Played Symphonies is Morrissey's most brilliant work since the B-sides for Suedehead. (I can't belive it's been 16 years!)

I'm looking forward to hearing the entire CD.
