Hey -- I'm thinking of flying to L.A in May to go to the convention. Just wondering how many of you have been to one of these. Did you enjoy it? Tell me all about it.

PS If you have any tips on where to find cheap airfare, lemme know. I have to fly from Toronto to Hollywood. I've never booked a flight before so I haven't a clue where to start.

Thanks

I made the mistake of going out to it. Years ago the first one at the Palace was pretty fun. I went he second and 3rd year there as well, and it suck both those times, so i stopped going.

I don't need to hear Boy Racer 4 x's in a night, the DJ is horrible and repeats songs over and over AND OVER...they don't even play any cool bSides or anything, just all the "Hits"...many overpriced items such as "Certain People I Know 7" single $75 HahHAhAHhA it's a joke. To top it all off they had SATH play who were okay, but for f***s sake I don't want to see a cover band for more than 45 minutes as it gets old really fast, but they seem to think it's cool to play On, and ON, AND ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're better off going to a Smiths/Moz night in your home town or elsewhere as you'll hear better music, not have to pay $30 to get in, and you can buy things on Ebay for cheaper.

I say avoid it.

They don't have those in my town though. I wish they did -- believe me. One good thing is I don't have to pay to get into the convention. That's already arranged. I just need to book a flight and a hotel.

Where do you live? Are you in Cali?

- well I would suggest Priceline.Com but I have another frtiend in Toronto who tried irt and apparently you can't book flights to fly OUT of Canada usuing Priceline.Com - funny considering their pitchman, William Shatner "Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise", is CANADIAN!!

I would try www.CheapFares.Com

would you really trust someone who plays paintballs with Mancow?

I enjoyed every minute. My only regret is that last year was my first time.
It's at the beautiful Palace in the heart of horrid and wonderful Hollywood. The first day had a Smiths theme, and the second day had a Morrissey theme. The journalists and posers only showed up on the first day. The second day was better, and by the end of it, there were plenty of hotties getting drunk and friendly. I am crossing my fingers that These Charming Men and Sweet and Tender Hooligans will both perform.

Well -- I don't think they'll both be there but I'll keep you posted. I should know in the next couple of weeks. (a friend of mine is the one who puts these conventions on)
