Mexican American fans

HI everyone..I have been a fan forever...and I am currently working on a paper for my history-cultural studies degree on Morrissey and his huge Mexican-American fan base. I would like any insight on this....I am interested in stories, how you first "heard" him..(I'll never forget my first time)...the similarities of lyrics to Mexican ballads... reactions to the Spin Aug 2002 article...Please only send serious responses...I thank you all, all Morrissey fans, ahead of time...
