Perhaps if I had heard the Patti Smith version I may have had a context at least or a reference point, but honestly, if I'd never heard of Morrissey & had to judge him on the basis of Redondo, I'd never want to listen to him again.
This is the first time I've ever heard ANYTHING Morrissey has ever done where I've felt so disappointed by it.
I agree with what you say regarding the other tracks, except I think 'Noise is the best revenge' is great & I really like Public Image.
Although, as i said before, first play of Slum Mums & Public Image they sounded very weak. Now I love 'em.
